I'd say it'd be a win-win...either the show gets better (fat chance) under his reign, or it sucks so bad it'll be canned one season after he took over.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

If they do make Selman showrunner, they should bring back 2 year stints. I reckon the removal of that was really key in the show being fucked up so badly. Like if you're only in charge for 2 years, how much damage can you actually do? Sure, you can mess it up but then its the new guy pretty soon afterwards to attempt to steer the ship back on course.
