    comics and sequential art

I dunno about you guys but I love the format and medium of Comics. It gives you Roch detailed setting but allows you to peruse at your own pace and use your brain to fill in the space between panels. How a particular character walks or how you think a particular character should sound. Not confined by the limitations of a human actor.

Share your thoughts on the matter and your favorite garbage pulp comic.

Sandman, Lucifer, Transmetropolitan, Animal Man, etc. Oddly enough my favorites are actually Japanese. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and, above all else, Trigun Maximum.

What do you do when presented a shelf of comics?

    Zoo: beautiful, poetic and haunting
Meccano: overly stylised yet razorsharp in its satire
The Chninkel: fantasy mixed with biblical influences
    Pin-up: retrostyled period piece
Samber: family drama with starcrossed lovers
De Onnoembaren: comical in style, cynical in humour
Mister Johan: semi-autobiographical slice of life style writing
Soda: police action with a double identity twist
Lanfeust: sword and sorcery with humour and adventure

I'm mostly into mainstream stuff, but here are a few more indie-leaning comics/graphic novels I like:

    Ghost World
    Black Hole
    The Goon
    Umbrella Academy
    Sam and Max
    House Of Mystery

Comics are a form of sequential art and of course the most well known. Cave paintings of Lascaux could be considered sequential art, as an example.

Shit sucks. Did you see that berry ink work?

Sequential art is an umbrella term for comic books, comic strips graphic novels, webcomics, and other forms of art that tells a story through a dynamic mix of words and pictures.

One could even talk about what children's books you let your kids read if you want to be real liberal with the term
