Eh, I have no problem with gym leaders that specialize, but how about a Dark Type Gym Leader? We have multiple Dark Type Elite 4 members...

I always thought the idea of a gym leader that specialized in explosive-Pokemon would be amusing...

I remember in Blue/Yellow I'd always hope Koga's Weezing would use selfdestruct.

There probably wasn't any intent but your post did look like an attempt to make yourself big.

I haven't played the game since the early 2000's but I'll never forget getting my ass kicked by brock to the point where I only had a kakuna left (I guess I didn't train the others properly). It only knew harden, but after a LONG while, I defeated him because kakuna ran out of harden moves and did that struggle thing. Luckily I was so hardened by then, the damage I inflicted on myself didn't even phase me. To cap things off, right after onix fainted, it evolved into a beedrill.......so yeah, EPIC.

I assume your starter was a Charmander? Squirtle and Bulbasaur by that time should have Brock's number!

Although winning with a Kakuna is quite the achievement! It's like winning with a Magikarp!

Yeah, I always was a charmander guy. After brock and misty, he becomes extremely worth it.

Yeah definitely. Although I found out he's quite useful outside of the gyms as well, since most trainers annoy you with lv.30 Caterpies of Pidgeys! And there isn't really another fire-type that you catch early and raise it properly.

Choosing Charmander is probably just as tough as Chikorita through the first 2 gyms of their respective games.

i accomplished so much on my first copy of pokemon silver, and then i went swimming with the cartridge in my pocket. didn't really work after that.

about two years ago i asked for another copy for christmas (because it's one of the greatest games i've ever played) and then got really bummed out when it stopped saving. just found out a week ago that the remedy to this is really simple - i just need to replace the battery inside the cartridge.

    i'll get around to it.

I just pick at random, but I usually get around to using all three starters in the region.

Man, I love Pokémon. Like @Jesse Pinkman, I usually pick the Fire starter, save for 1st and 4th generations, where it's Grass for me.

I also always pick the fire starter in every generation except the 3rd where I go for water instead.

Or you could do it my way

Same, I'll probably restart Leaf again with Squirtle after my current Fire save with Bulbasaur. I already did Charmander and didn't complete it because of stupid decisions.

Eh, I just know the basic ones! Water beats Fire, Fire beats Grass, Electric beats Water, etc. Although I do know which type can beat what.

Yeah, stuff like the water-fire-grass triangle is basic.
I just played too many games with other systems (the Final Fantasies for instance) where the elemental weakness can differ.

Anyway, Viridian City throughout the games...
I wonder how many politicians were bribed by the residential major to call that village a 'city'.

    Shuckle? Interesting.

But I just can't help but notice that the desgins get worse by region. This for example:

If you quickly go through the video you can clearly see that they get worst by region. I cannot take Unova's Elite Four seriously for that reason!

    Oh, you're a defensive player.
To be honest, I always forget to use defensive moves.

I was like that when I was younger, but then I discovered their usefulness.
