    Adult Swim decided in 2009 to turn the show from 15 to 30 minutes...Brendon Small reverted back to its 15 minute format because he stated it was easier for him to do so.

    Brendon Small orginally said a year ago that season 4 would be the last but later changed his mind and said Metalocalypse would have a couple more seasons. Im pretty sure there will be a season 5 and it will probably be the last judging by how season 4 is going, season 5 seems like it will probably be very different and darker in tone.
