Your Golden Age at the NHC

What was your most prolific period at the nhc?

Certainly 2010 in my case. Haha, I still remember the whole noiseland-stuff. And the people who were in the centre of it all: Fox Executive, the real melvin, Bella Drape 'er, Joe Miller, bartyboy, Guy Haines, The Chili Man, Green Man, CalculatedChaos, D'ohmer, Granto, hammster, Goon, B*O*R*T, Toongal, Judy...

    Good times.

So yeah, this is basically a 'reminisce about your favourite period at the nhc'-thread.

    what actually happened to Granto?

But yeah, mine is probably the same as you cinco. I miss the old group. Even if looking back, I do think my posts are kinda embarrassing.

Granto lost the will to post.

And your posts were never embarrassing, hammster.
You had some good ideas, like that contest in which members had to coach Simpsons seasons and had to let them compete with eachother.
Also, your concept of the weekly episode club still lives on. I guess you're swimming in a pool of royalties by now.

If I had to guess based on the criteria "prolific" I'd probably go with the period since becoming a mod. I didn't really post much in general (my average is only 1 post per day), so being a staff member has kinda forced me to come out of the shadows a little. Since the NHC/B&R split, I kind of view it as an opportunity for the NHC to build its own culture again, so I try to push myself to be more out there.

Other than recently, I'd say around 2007 or 2008 when I was running those Simpsons podcasts with ryan o, Steve, Kiyosuki, sung, Mr. Trampopoline, arii, Adam R, and a bunch of others. Looking back on them, they're kind of hard to listen to again (it's hard to have a real conversation over Skype), but they were fun to do... They were a ton of work, though. We used to chat for an hour or so afterwards, so they would sometimes eat up like 3-4 hours of a day. But it was cool learning more about the NHC'ers.

Thanks, hammster! I remember you were always one of our biggest supporters, so I would really appreciate your kind words after each episode.

Speaking of which, go check out my video series, yo. I got a new episode coming out tonight.

I'd say nhc was it's creative peak around 2008 when there were weekly podcasts and TFD still posted his long essays and shit. le jake was making loads of fanart and stuff (not that I'm into that) and there was a chatbox in gen chat and it was filled with the most inane chat. think of 20 lolcats posting amongst themselves

I've always been at least a semi-heavy poster. Probably more so now though. Now when people make fun of my posts/post count i don't care, and now they don't make entire threads devoted to criticizing it, so it's all good. I Can just post in peace with the other people here, which is nice.

My first few years here, I hardly posted at all, mostly because I was very young and was kind of afraid to post. In 2010, I started posting a lot more.

I remember back when I was a lurker seeing your posts and thinking why is Jim Davis posting on a Simpsons site? I kind of miss your old Garfield sigs.

The five years I was a frequent lurker from 01-06 or from when I actually joined this site until now. I only visited this site a couple of times from mid '06 to when I joined since the discussion about the show was getting phased out around this period.

Maybe I'm just being nostalgic, but I do think the board was better around the time I joined compared to now. The sharp increase in the use of the word "troll" over the past year perhaps reflects why.

Besides the digs at @ModernSimpsonsRocks I can't say I've seen the word troll around!

yea he proves the same point every week that we're all terrible fans and should stop watching

main reason i'm looking forward to the next season's rate and review threads.

I wonder what he'll say if everyone thinks an episode was good!
