It seemed like to me they hired good writers but whoever was running the show dragged evrypne else down with the crummy pacing and art.

That show was so good. Georgia Lass was such an interesting character, the kind that rarely gets a show based around them... It's weird that you don't Ellen Muth in more stuff, because she was really good in this series. Although the whole cast was completely amazing, though.
The straight-to-DVD movie was pretty okay, but it was better than nothing, I guess.

Only the first six or seven episodes of DLM are truly great. The rest are decent enough but never make good on the promise that was so pevelant in the pilot.
And the movie was just a last hurrah for a mediocre series after cancellation.
DLM is still one of the best shows ever Imo though.
How the fuck did Deadwood get cancelled after 3 seasons? My second favorite show of all time. Was is it too smart for the average viewer?
I consider this the "smartest" show ever written. If you didnt pay attention to every conversation, you would miss something. I found myself rewinding several times during each episode, to make sure I didnt miss something.
@do what donny dont does
does deadwood end well? because of the "brief" airtime, i've always been hesitant to try it out.
does it feel finished and/or rewarding, like the wire, when it wraps up?

I guess Firefly goes without saying...
Millennium: A show that started of strongly but flagged in it's latter episodes before rediscovering it's early greatness.
Rubicon: I enjoyed watching it when it was one earlier this year. I think it had a lot going for it, The whole domestic terrorism perpetrated by a corporation storyline was interesting and played into a lot of paranoid, skull and bones, old boys network mythology. The writing was intelligent... maybe sometimes a little slow but it was engaging non the less. A slow burner. It had a feel of The Wire about it. .
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip: It was written by Aaron Sorkin and had all the quick wit and smart dialogue you'd expect. I will remember it as a show good enough to make the usually hammy Matthew Perry practically kosher.
Deadwood, The Wire, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire. Its worth the subscription price, for these shows alone.
