Characters You Think Should Return, Appear More Often, or have their own story

Hello. I've noticed that their are many characters back from the classic Simpsons feel important back than but today I noticed that some Simpsons Fans feel like they haven't been seen so much, they don't have their own story, or wish that character would return at least one more time. Here are some examples.
Characters You think Should Return/Appear More Often Examples: Herb Powell, Laura Powers, Karl, Ms. Pennycandy, Hank Scorpio and so on...
Characters You Think Should Have Their Own Story Examples: Carl and Lenny, Akira, Yes Guy, Charlie, Ms. Hoover and so on...

I'd like to see more Willie in season 24.

As for back stories, I don't think we should establish any more of them, since the new back stories never make sense.

I'd like to see the current Simpsons' version of a 22 Short Films About Springfield-type episode, which as simple as it was really did add a lot to secondary characters.Just some episodes that feature the Simpsons very-little and not shoe horn in wacky Homer or something would be nice.

I second that I would like to see more Groundskeeper Willie in Season 24. I'd like to see a return from Uncle Herb, Hank Scorpio, Llewellyn Sinclair. Also more Snake and possibly even more from Milhouse's parents. I'd like to see less Crazy Cat Lady, less Lindsay Naegle and less Rich Texan - those three are my least favourite characters

More of Lugash; I find it strange that he never got more than just a couple of apperances on the show, he was a pretty funny character and should have been brought back more.

And yes, more Willie; he's always been one of the more consistent secondary characters.

Maybe more Marge backstory? There isn't that much information about her father.

Agreed, but I would also include Gil on that list. I don't expect them to recast Lionel Hutz, but they have to get a better lawyer character than Gil. The Blue-haired lawyer is meh.

I would love to see a 22 Short Films type episode again. It could possibly reintroduce characters that haven't been seen for years/ characters that have only ever been in the background.

Personally, I thought the outlands scene in At Long Loast Leave could've had all those residents be characters that were common in the early days but are seldom to never used today. That was a missed opportunity.

Unfortunately, in recent years, the series has had a knack for destroying subtle characters by having them appear too heavily. The best example of this is Gil who I found hilarious until Kill Gil. However, I do like the idea of another 22 Short Films About Springfield-like episode because that wouldn't too much attention on any one secondary character

I've never got why everybody hates Gil. I think it's a pretty good character and much better than the others being criticized. Rich Texan, Crazy Cat Lady, Cookie Kwan, The Yes Guy or Lyndsay Naegel are worse characters than Gil, even though Lyndsay maybe has some point. The others are just too one dimensional. Gil does have a main characteristic, being pathetic, but it's not a one joke character like CCL or The Yes Guy.

I think the return of Herb is almost a must before the series ends...but since it will probably be in a so/so episode instead of a really great one I'm not in a hurry.

I believe Otto and Barney could serve some plots or subplots, they don't use them enough these days and they are pretty funny characters.

Appear more often: Herman, Dr. Nick, Jasper, Ruth Powers , and Charlie from the nuclear power plant. Also it sucks not having Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure.

Have their own episode: Lenny and Carl (possibly in a Dumb and Dumber parody), Snake, Ruth Powers, and a Lionel Hutz episode would have been awesome.

He's too boring and one-dimensional. He's like Chalmers, the occasional cameo is cute but you don't base an entire episode on them.

I didn't really have a problem with Kill Gil, but I agree that Chalmers is far too one-dimensional to warrant an episode.

Has Smithers had an episode focused around him yet? The only episodes I can remember that were faintly about him was the one to do with his father's dead body and the Malibu Stacy episode, off the top of my head. I think he'd be quite interesting to know more of - he's certainly got more than one dimension to focus on.

I consider "Flaming Moe" as Smithers' chapter so there is a example and he also has a subplot in "American History X-cellent" when he have to take the control in the plant. However neither of those chapter said much about him

I want an episode where Rev. Lovejoy meets his religious mentor who inspired him to choose a life 'by the book.' However, when he meets him years later, his mentor has become an atheist and the Rev now questions his own past and future in the church.

Sounds decent but I imagine the writers putting jerkass Homer or over-religious Flanders in there to ruin the episode.

I'd like a lot more from the kids at Springfield Elementary. I always loved the episodes based around the kids as a group like Lemon of Troy & Das Bus.

I think there is a Roger Meyers Jr. episode coming up, where they explore his backstory. It's actually my most anticipated episodes!

As for my picks: more Dr. Nick and Willie

Also, Herb Powell needs to return. I'm surprised he hasn't, given DiVito's comic resurgence in Always Sunny. Given that both shows are FOX owned, you'd think they'd bring Herb back. Maybe bring in Charlie Kelly to play a side-character, like Herb's son from a new marriage or Herb's assistant.
