Why do people hate The Cleveland Show so much?

I can not figure out why people are saying The Cleveland Show sucks. I think it's better then American Dad. American Dad is funny, but Cleveland is way funnier then Stan Smith. The pilot episode was hilarious, and every episode that's aired afterwards have been entertaining. This show has an easy to follow storyline, and great animation. Sure, there are moments that are not as funny as others, but all shows have those. The Cleveland show, I think, is better then the present day Family Guy, because it's fresh and has characters that genuinely make me laugh. And, if you say this show sucks, then you're pretty much saying Family Guy, American Dad, King of the Hill, and the Simpsons suck because it's the exact same format as the Cleveland Show. Okay, I'm happy I got that off my chest. If you agree with what I said, like this post. If you don't, start a debate.

Haven't you made this same thread like three times? It's a matter of opinions or just general hate on McFarlane himself, nothing else.

People disliked The Cleveland Show because the first season wasn't great, and the same could be said for season 2. But much like American Dad before it, it has found it's own identity during the 3rd season in a way which will further distance it from Family Guy's shadow.

    Just be thankful

That makes sense. You could have said 'you must hate all animation comedies if you hate the Cleveland Show!'. It would have been petty rubbish anyway.

The reasons I dislike the Cleveland Show? Well it's essentially a Family Guy with black people. The characters act similiar to other McFarlane characters and he still has that stupid idea of having talking animals or whatever and bland, uninteresting characters. This show is basicially saying to the audience: "Hey, look at me! Take the most boring Family Guy character, make him like Peter and put him on a show! Don't forget the talking animal or table or whatever - oh a talking bear, genius! Promotion for you kind sir!'

I hate the McFarlane shows and the Cleveland Show manages to be the worst of a bad bunch.

@FranklinGeorge you forgot to say "Discuss!" at the end of your OP.

It was more watchable last season than Family Guy and (often) American Dad. It gets a lot of flack for being the third show with the same format from the same guy and under the pretense it was a spin-off. Cleveland doesn't act the same at all and his son is an entirely different character (not that he had much of one, originally).

Not being funny but maybe that's why people don't like it. It's basically recycling similar format structures to 3 shows that you've listed that have already accomplished some success doing so. Does it really need doing again. What new is Cleveland offering. And personally I don't really like how they felt the need to change the character of Cleveland to make him more loud and obnoxious, he was much better how he was.
But hey, it's cool if you like it. Maybe I just haven't seen enough of it to change my mind.
    Now everyone hold hands.

I also think Family Guy sucks big time... the jokes are lazy and racist on both programs.
I've been so bored since we moved here I found myself drinking a glass a wine everyday- I know doctors say you should drink a glass and a half but I just can't drink that much.

Well, I'll admit the recent seasons aren't that good, but the first three are pretty good in my opinion,

I suppose I don't hate Family Guy, I mean it's OK at best and The Cleveland Show was a spin-off of that. Besides, Cleveland isn't that much of a fan favorite; imagine what a fame and hype Quagmire show would get.

I've only ever seen Cleveland Show if I'm watching before a new Simpsons. It gets laughs but they're rare.

Family Guy is decent. The first 3 and some of s4 are pretty consistently good to great, but now it's usually weak.

I remember giving Cleveland a chance. I only ever laughed at one joke: Cleveland as the Men's Warehouse Commercial guy. I mean the rest was just not funny to me. Last season of American Dad was weak, but I still can't believe Cleveland was better. I guess I could give it another shot but I really don't want to...

Well I'll say it was at least 5. I forget them but here's plots I recall:

Cleveland Jr. and Cleveland's old baseball jersey.
    Cleveland's parents and Thanksgiving
    Comic Con
Rallo and the old white guy Carl Reiner(I think) played.
Maybe a Halloween one where Cleveland felt Jr. was too old to trick or treat where I think Rallo dressed as various famous movie monsters to scare people...that was kinda amusing I guess in retrospect.

I know I've seen more than that but they're all so forgettable it was hard to remember even those honestly.

I've only seen the first episode where the little kid yelled a snappy comeback from another room. MacFarlane's cartoons are so lazily staged to begin with - most of the time it's just a medium shot of two lumpy characters stiffly standing in 3/4 profile talking - but now they've discovered they don't even have to have a character be in the same room to deliver disposable sitcom zingers. That's just... the epitome of laziness and I find it abhorrent

And yes, I realize that not liking Family Guy Spin-Off is tantamount to hating the entire Medium of Television, but so be it

the only time i remember laughing hard was once when the baby walks in and every other word he said was a swear word. i dunno why that made me laugh and i don't even remember any of the dialogue. that was the only time i legitimately laughed at the show; every other time i laugh has been a small chuckle.

i hate trying to explain my laughs to shows but there ya go

In their defense, Family Guy did that once too. I can't remeber which episode, but it WAS FUNNY! Peter and Lois have an argument and when they angrily switch the lights out Stewie says "I just heard all of that, and I just wanna say that this family is fucking disintegranting"

i was just going to point that out. the comparisons of the other shows is bad enough, but king of the hill? they're virtually nothing alike. you've never seen king of the hill if you think that and are judging it solely 'cause 'it's a cartoon'

also i apparently hate the cleveland show because cleveland is black and i'm racist, a defense someone used once.

so, to hate cleveland show is to hate every other cartoon on the planet, and it means I'm clearly racist. I suck so much

it's too bad i can't use the "it's not funny to me" excuse

and the fact the king of the hill was replaced by the cleveland show pisses me off to no end. i mean king of the hill wasn't too good by the end of their run but come on...

i stopped watching KOTH near the end of its run. i think one of the last episodes i saw (before the series finale) was the one where bill got diabetes. but it was still semi-decent, i just never had the time to watch it.

the "racist" thing is just weird. If I'm racist for not liking the show, how do I know you're not racist and you're just pretending to like the show? Huh? What now dumbass (seriously, the 'race card' can apply to pretty much anything, but that doesn't mean it should apply to pretty much anything).

oh btw franklin one of my friends on facebook made a list of his top 25 shows and cleveland was somewhere in the top 5 i believe. does that make you feel better
