El viaje misterioso de nuestro Homero, the springfield files, the old man and the lisa, how they saved lisa's brain, realty bites, whacking day, Homer the Great, Mayored to the Mob, Hurricane Neddy, Monty Can't Buy Me Love, You Only Move Twice, King-Size Homer, Sideshow Bob's Last Gleaming, Two Bad Neighbors, Homer the Smithers, Kidney Trouble.

@Rara, there are folks on here that still like the show but because of the reign of Al Jean causes them to be upset with the show. There are some of us members, however, ( @Oh, that's raspberry!, @Financial Panther, myself, etc.) that still LOVE the show!

@Rara, I still like the show quite a bit too. There are some episodes or jokes that make me think that the hate is COMPLETELY justified, but I think that a lot of the newer episodes are C quality or higher. Maybe my standards are lower, but I enjoy it enough to watch it weekly.

Back to the topic, the show really isn't considered "controversial" anymore, at least in comparison to other TV. Ocassionally the PTC criticizes the show, but everyone hates them anyways.

The Simpsons rarely ever comes up in real life conversations for me, but around the time The D'ohcial Network aired, somebody in my class saw a Simpsons shirt I was wearing and said something like "I didn't know that show was still on. I thought I remembered people making a big deal off of it ending. I wish it did end because that Facebook episode was terrible."

My grandmother thinks Marge's voice is annoying and grainy but other than that, everyone in my family likes the Simpsons. However, at school it's the exact opposite. Everyone despises The Simpsons by judging the newer episodes when they haven't even seen the older episodes and when comparing it to Family Guy, they cite it as the better show. I have nothing against that because it's their opinion, but I feel they should actually take a minute to look back at how incredible The Simpsons was before saying it. I don't belong at that school

Funny you mentioned Rome-old and Juli-eh because in maths class last year, the teacher let us watch one of his shows on his flash drive. Everyone wanted Family Guy but he chose Rome-old and Juli-eh from The Simpsons. Everyone was laughing at the worst jokes, which happened to be the most dirty, which just goes to show that that's what they want

A lot of my friends claim to hate it, and it pisses me off because they judge the entire show on one/two episodes, and of course they're from the post-classic seasons so when I tell then "Wait, there are good episodes!" they pass it off. I was watching a s18 episode with my best friend a couple years ago; it was "Rome-Old and Juli-Eh" and he laughed at a couple parts but I could tell he didn't like it. And he hasn't watched an episode since.

All of my friends who hate the show only hate it because they've only seen the post-classic episodes, and I can't convince them to watch the classics. They're all watching South Park and Family Guy and American Dad, and if there isn't a joke a minute, or swear, or sexual reference, or anything else like that, then they dismiss it. Makes me mad.

Are there people who actually dislike the show as a whole though? I can get disliking the later seasons, but also actively disliking the first 8 (maybe 9) seasons? Is such a thing possible?
One of my teachers disliked the show and couldn't understand its appeal -that was way back in the early 1990s. She did like me and seemingly valued my opinions so I tried to convince her of the merits of the show and I think she took notice of my point of view, even if she disagreed with it

My mother had a hot and cold relationship with the Simpsons. She didn't like it initially I think and sometimes used to shoo me away to the other room when I wanted to watch it but she also conceded that some of its storylines and dialogue was clever and funny

The only person I know who dislikes the show is my grandmother, I'm not sure she's even watched an entire episode. My family is full of fans of the show other than her though.

I'd find it really hard to be friends with anyone like that.

I'm friends with people who don't get why it's a such a big deal but I'm not sure I know anyone who hates it. One of my Grandads dismissed it as a kids show but said that it's good for kids. And he could have been using the word kids as a synonym for people younger than him. My Grandma from the other side won't stop going on about what a good moral basis the show has.

I wouldn't say her dislike of the show is that extreme, I would laugh if she did that though.

I remember picking up my "I'm Bart Simpson, who the hell are you?" shirt at JC Penny's back in 1991 and having to turn it inside out the next day at school in 9th Grade.

To most people like the simpsons, there are also people who do not like, buy do not hate.
Many of my teachers watch the simpsons and even make comparisons of what we discussed in class to something that happened in any episode.

I was talking to my friend at school one day and she say something about a teacher strangling one of his students. I then said, " Sounds like something Homer would do to Bart" and she was like "What?". I then said, "Homer and Bart Simpson from The Simpsons you should know that show". She later says "Oh, why do you watch that show?". So I have a feeling she hates it and my friend watches New Spongebob and Kung Fu Panda (no offense to people who like those shows it's just that I hate them.)

My friend said she heard it on some show called Caught on Camera. So it's probably not true since I heard that show was fake.

I don't know anybody like that. Of course I run into them online, but my friends and family like the show. Sometimes my dad, who watched the show regularly in the classic era, will catch a new episode and will tell me how much he liked it. Usually it's an episode that is considered a good one, like Holidays of Future Passed or Homer the Father.

I actually just got into a Simpsons discussion at work. It was short, but basically somebody mentioned Family Guy (noting that they saw a guy who sounded like Peter Griffin) and we all started to talk about how much Family Guy sucked. I noted that the show was good before it got cancelled, and that what I hate about the show is how little characters care for each other. In 23 seasons of The Simpsons, Homer still loves Marge and that's why I've always liked the show. It still retains that heart.

I had a teacher in high school who said she couldn't stand it and she didn't see what kids these days saw in the show (this was going back to the classic era back in the early 1990s). She was quite conservative in her outlook so it didn't really surprise me. To her credit, she did listen to me and respect my point of view when I disagreed with her

Yep, everyone I know, except about three people much prefer Family Guy. it's pretty frustrating, and like someone else said, it seems that it's just because they need a joke a minute. I think people have lost the desire to warm to characters, and just want gags instead. I was saying to my brother the other day, and he agreed, that if anyone said a bad word about Homer, I would feel offended, as if he were a family member. That's quite a statement for a cartoon character.

A fictional character is a fictional character. Being animated is just a medium to tell a story, not a genre.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

I'm sick of people saying the best Simpsons were the old ones They suck and they even compare to the quality of Simpsons episodes today. The quality was crap the colour was all off and blurry and the episodes are so boring.. The best Simpsons episodes start from season 19 on!
