Season 22 was extreamly average while 23 ranged from being below average to bad (With only a few good episodes) so I'd probably go with season 22 (Although both are in my bottom three seasons)

I think the show hit absolute rock bottom with season 22 and stayed there with season 23, so my answer is they are about the same.

Season 22, for sure. I found that season to be somewhat enjoyable and probably the best season of the latter-day Jean era (though that's not really saying much, since it was still awful).

Apart from 2 of the best episodes we've seen in years, season 23 was a horrible season and one of their definite worst.

"Book Job" and "Holidays of future passed" were better than pretty much anything in season 22. Ironically, they're both season 22 holdovers.

    22. It had many more episodes that I'd consider above-average, and less that I'd consider flops.

Season 22 was mediocre throughout, nothing exceptional but a lot of sucky moments, Season 23, although having some of the worst episodes ever also had some half decent episodes, making it marginally better.

They both stank. S23 had Holidays of Future Passed and that was better than anything from both Seasons. Otherwise, they're both the mind numbingly, weak as water.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

I agree with the person who said that season 23's highs were better than season 22's highs, but the lows were much lower.

I can't really think of any season 22 episodes that I thought were completely terrible, but I can't think of any that I thought were amazing either. Most of it was C quality at best.

22 was really crummy but 23 is the single worst season of the show.

Season 23 had "Holidays of Future Passed," but Season 22 had "Homer the Father" AND "Homer Scissorhands." It wins, easily.

Well I think that's a much easier question. 10 crushes 11...ooooh but then it does have Dish Upon a Star....and Kidney Trouble...and Homer to the Max...let me get back to you on that.

I found Season 23 to be a very enjoyable experience, having many great episodes. As time goes by, I don't think we'll ever have such a season again.
Never since Season 11 have I seen such a wonderful combination of hilarity, emotion, and character development.

Season 22 was also great and awesome, but it was just harder to sit through. Mainly because I didn't have the wonderful feeling of jokes getting thrown at me every millisecond.
I have no complaints about Season 23 whatsoever. If I ever could recommend a season for a new watcher, I would always recommend Season 23.

    What else can I say?

If it was between two good seasons, I'd go for the one that I gave higher average ratings, which would probably be Season 22.

But when seasons are as indistinguishably crap as the last two, I have to go for the one with something, anything that stands out as good, and Season 23 has Holidays of Future Passed. So S23 it is.

But then season 11 has; 'Hello Gudder, Hello Fadder', 'Eight Misbehavin', 'Take My Wife Sleaze', 'The Mansion Family', 'Saddlesore Galactica', 'Alone Again, Natura-diddily', 'Bart to the Future', 'Kill the Alligator and Run' and 'It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Marge'.

    Good episodes from season 22
Lisa Simpson, This Isnt Your Life
The Fight Before Christmas (mostly the last segment)
    The Blue and the Gray
    A Mid Summers Night Dream
    Homer Scissorshands
    500 Keys
    The Ned Liest Catch

And maybe Homer The Father, which is nothing special to me, but it's ok.

    Good episodes from season 23
    The Food Wife
    The Book Job
The Man in the Blue Flannel Pants
    Holidays Of Future Passed
    At Long Last Leave
    Exit Through The Kwik-E- Mart
    How I Wet Your Mother
A Totally Fun Thing Bart Will Never Do Again (mostly the first two acts)
    Ned N Edna Blend

I guess season 23 is better.

Incidentally I don't mean all those episodes were great or anything. In fact I barely remember some of them. But I remember having a good feeling after watching them.

On the other hand some of the episodes not included weren't too bad. The Daughter Also Rises or Beware My Cheating Bart are fairly decent outings, but they didn't feel right to me, as if they weren't using the premises to its full potential and the stories were written by numbers. The Great Simpsina wasn't bad but I don't feel like rewatching it any time soon, something about the plot feels too contrived.

Also, about season 23 having more "bad" episodes than season 22 I would say they're kind of tied. Season 22 had Elementary School Musical, The Scorpion's Tale, The Fool Monty (which is mixed but mostly bad), Love is a Many Strangled Thing, Real Housewifes of Fat Tony and even Donnie Fatso, which is a good episode until the ending, but the ending is completely terrible.

I guess everybody's got a right to like what they like; I personally found The Book Job and Holidays of Future Passed to be the only good episodes of Season 23, the rest being mediocre to below average to terrible with the below average to terrible outweighing the mediocre/good. Below average and terrible episodes a Simpsons season does not make.

Do you think the season 22 episodes I mentioned in the last paragraph were better than the "below average" episodes in season 23?

Incidentally a funny fact to me is that the first episode of season 22 and the last one of season 23 have simmilarities: both are celebrity based episodes that shoe-horned a half baked Lisa's conflict and both were written by Tim Long , but Elementary School Musical was a lot more boring than Lisa Goes Gaga, even if Elementary School Musical had Flight Of Conchords guys who should be much better guest stars than Gaga. But it also had Glee, which I'm not a fan of.

The second episodes of both seasons (Loan A-Lisa and Bart Stops To Smell The Roosevelts) are also of very simmilar quaility to me. Decent outings but fairly unmemorable.

Well ignoring your Homer the Father opinion I stand by the opinion that The Scorpion Tale is fine until the googly eyes and even a joke or two about them got a laugh. And the only bad thing about Love is a Many Strangled Thing might be Bart ignoring his dad at the end as he dies, but that really didn't bother me personally. I enjoy both those episodes. Real Housewives isn't really bad either just low on laughs.

Season 22 was mostly a forgettable season. Season 23 just edges out as being worse, only for Future Passed, Cheating Bart and The Book Job

I enjoyed Season 23 much more than Season 22 by a LARGE margin. I enjoyed The Book Job, Holidays of Future Passed, At Long Last Leave, Beware My Cheating Bart, How I Wet Your Mother, The D'ohcial Network, Ned N' Edna's Blend Agenda, and Them Robot. The only two in season 22 I enjoyed was How Munched was that birdie in the window and Homer Scissorhands.
