What's your favourite 'future' based episode?

    mine as follows:

    1. Bart To The Future "B" (i really enjoy this episode.)
    2. Lisa's Wedding "B" (i love the beginning with chief wiggum but after that it's not a very good episode. my least favourite episode from season 6.)
    3. Holidays Of Future Passed "C-" (bad and way overrated but still better then Future-Drama.)
    4. Future-Drama "F" (very bad episode that i don't enjoy at all.)

"Lisa's Wedding" easily, "Holidays of Future Past" is so overrated...

My view on them is rather generic.

    1. Lisa's Wedding -- A
It's not perfect and sometimes lets itself down with some poor(ish) future jokes, but that aside it's a wonderful episode, using the future context to actually explore the characters and give us some, if not a huge amount of, great jokes. I can understand why some people don't think it's amazing because I do think it perhaps gets itself caught up in "look how different the future is let's laugh at it", and it might not be that funny. But personally I like the plot and love Homer's speech to Lisa at the end, so that more or less makes up for it.

    [big drop in quality]

    2. Holidays of Future Passed -- B-
I think this is hideously overrated but there are some things I like about it, for example: the photo montage/segue in to the future (which was great), the fact it felt like the episode actually meant something, and how it tried something different with the characters. Homer and Marge were also surprisingly well done. But apart from that, it wasn't funny (with many jokes unfunny and others just downright poor) and, ultimately barely got under the skin of any of the new characters and relationships showed in the episode. It all felt packed in and glossed over, and thus I never really cared for the characters, so the "emotional moments" sorta just came off as awkward and insignificant.

    3. Future-Drama -- C+
Don't ask me why, that's just the grade stuck in my head, haven't seen it in a while. I remember thinking it was okay, but I can't elaborate why at the moment.

    4. Bart to the Future -- D
It just downright annoys me, from Bart, to Lisa, to Homer, etc... The whole plot feels lazy and boring - it does nothing new. It's just another Scully episode. 'Cept it's in the future. And has even more annoying characters. And less jokes. There's the odd okay line... I guess... and I didn't exactly hate it with a passion. But all in all I just don't like this one. (this sums up why pretty well)

As expected, Jerkass Homer goes for the Mike Scully one. I honestly can't tell if he's actually a genuine troll or actually a Mike Scully fan! Anyway I'm either going to go for Lisa's Wedding or Holidays of Future Passed.
Everybody's a jerk. You, me, this jerk. That's my philosophy.

Hey, in no way is Jerkass Homer a troll. He's a nice guy whose opinions tend to differentiate from the norm. There's no problem with that.

    Anyway:

    1: Holidays of Future Passed
    2: Bart to the Future
    3: Lisa's Wedding
    4: Future-Drama

I didn't really enjoy any future episode too much until Holidays of Future Passed.

I don't know which I prefer between Holidays and Wedding, but both are 5/5. I also think rather highly of Future-Drama.

Bart to the Future? Well....we love Bart. The magic of the season has touched us all. Homer sends his love. Happy Holidays....The Simpsons!

well you have to pick one, the wolves are at ol' Gil's door.

thanks FP. yes i am an actual mike scully fan. why would i spend 1200 posts on being a "troll." i hate the term "troll" and i wish it was never created, along with those who are "trolls". it just seems like a complete waste of time. i just needed to say that, back to the topic.

Holidays is funnier, but the scene with Bart talking to Lisa puts it SLIGHTLY over Lisa's Wedding.

Lisa's Wedding is excellent, but the only moving moment is the ending between her and Homer.

    Holidays of Future Passed: A
    Lisa's Wedding: A-
    Future Drama: D
    Barf to the Future: F

I've seen Lisa's Wedding the most, so I'll probably have to re-watch the other episodes soon.

    Grin Lisas Wedding :D

I love Lisas Wedding, I love how especially in episodes during this time you had no idea were the episode was going and their were some very funny bits in the fair before the dream sequence. ( if that's what it should be called, not sure) I also feel it was very realistic. This showed what they would all be like in the future, in my opinion. I felt it really took on the question of Lisas devotion to her family when she began a life of her own. Even though Lisa claims to hate her family in the end it shows her love for them and I found this very touching especially the part with Lisa and Homer at the end.

Oh man... sorry to burst your bubble, hope you don't get mad anything, but Bart To The Future was... eh... how do I put this... was uh... not good. In fact, some critics and fans, I'm definitely going to be hated for this, said that it's one of the worst episodes ever. No offense. Anyway, here's my top episodes, again, sorry.
    1. Lisa's Wedding - The First, Hilarious, and Emotional Episode of The World of Tommorrow! Basically the future. A+
    2. Holidays Of Future Passed - Has been said by most critics and fans, as great as a classic Simpsons for having a hilarious but touching emotional plot that reminds us of the old Simpsons back than. Plus, Ralph Wiggum Clones. A-
    3. Future-Drama - Not much of Classic Simpson Emotion to it, but it was still quite funny. Plus, a Bender Cameo. Who doesn't like Bender? B
    4. Bart To The Future - Wishing this was mostly set in Springfield and made fun of the Future like the other three episodes, but I did find Homer digging in the White House's backyard funny. I guess a C+ to B- range.

Lisa's Wedding > Holidays of Future Passed > Future-Drama > Bart to the Future. However I seen to have suffered from a brain fart and voted for HOFP, any way to change this?

    Lisa's Wedding- A

    Bart to the Future- D

    Future-Drama- C+/B-

    Holidays of Future Passed- A

Lisa's Wedding is my favorite with Holidays second.

  21. #21

    1. Lisa's Wedding -> It's not one of my favourites of classic Simpsons but it's the only future episode that actually is classic Simpsons.

    2. Holidays of Future Passed -> Pretty much all I could ask from a modern episode. The best of the HD era and one of the best in however many years now. Still far from perfect and it's more amusing than it is downright funny, but it's got a tasteful dose of sentiment handled with some care.

    3. Future-Drama -> I remember for some reason people going nuts over this when it aired. I never felt that strongly about it either way and that remains with the reputation seeming to have waned (though I read Simpsons discussion in a different community back then). It's okay I guess, and some of the future jokes allow the writers to be creative in ways they might not be with a regular episode.

    4. Bart to the Future -> Don't dislike as much as some compared to the numerous other blunders of that time, though it still leaves much to be desired. Fitting Scully episode in that I don't mind individual moments but it ends up being kind of a mess overall.

Lisa's Wedding is one of the best episodes ever

Bart to the Future is just really lazy, "well Lisa's real smart so of course she'll end up president" is a pretty hacky premise. there are still some good jokes in there though

I remember liking Future-Drama but in retrospect it's pretty uninspired and pointless. if you're going to do a future episode there should be a good reason for it. I think the concept of having marge and homer separated/divorced is an interesting idea they can't really explore in a normal episode, but it's barely touched upon

I will concede that Holidays of Future Passed is better than average for its era, if only for the density of jokes, but I don't care for it very much. one of my main beefs is that they just go for the easy joke - "martin prince is transgender LOL" is so much less creative than "martin prince is a weird phantom of the opera-type eccentric who lives under the school and plays funky music on a huge organ; "mr. burns is REALLY old and his dogs died" vs. "mr. burns was stabbed 17 times in the back and cryogenically frozen"

    Lisa's Wedding- A,

    Future-Drama- B

    Holidays of Future Passed- B-

    Bart to the Future- C

I felt HOFP had potential to be an A but was draged down by to many overlong unfunny jokes.

This is from my iPad so excuse my spelling but I voted for Holidays of Future Passed simply because it lives much past its potential particularly for the era it is in. I love Lisa's wedding but I have to say it is one of the weakest of Season 6. Future Drama has its moments but is still pretty unsatisfactory and Bart to the Future is crap

I really don't get why Holidays is loved so much. Besides the Ralph clone joke the rest of the episode was just unfunny and boring I really think its the worst future episode.
Lisas wedding is defintly the best one.

i personally really liked the overall feel that it could've been the last episode. i definitely got that feel to the episode, at least, and that made it enjoyable
