How much you were into politics at that age and how well the characters are written on a show are two different things. Just because the show references something you were into doesn't mean it's written well. It's only written well if someone who's not into politics thinks it is funny while someone who's a political geek gets even more out of it.

You know, writing that works for people who aren't Homer and Ralph fans--something the Simpsons forgot a LONG TIME ago.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

That Lisa episode actually sounds kind of interesting and decent. I thought Politically Inept had some decent political satire in it, so it's one of the few things the writers might be able to pull off.

Your shows suck. They really fucking suck. They suck so hard that I wanna cringe every time I see them. You make me sick as a person and I hope you suffer a cold lonely death like your shows are going to face in the next few years.

P.S. The fact that your posting on a Simpsons Forum is just sad. You can barely even work on your shows, yet you can post on a Forum about a show as dead as your shows. Please eat a dick.

God damn you Macfarlane. That clip was terrible and your shows are ass, yet your singing always brings me back in. Aw well, the show already had Gaga lobotomize the show, I guess your character can't fuck up that much more than her.

The two clips from the upcoming Carlc entric episode were funny.. but the elves/trolls killed the other one.

As for Seth on the Simpsons.. meh... he sings and swings.. what a shock.

I have mixed feelings about the Seth clip.

On one hand I have an adquired taste for this 'character in a thought balloon' scenes that remind me of seasons 4 and 5. On the other hand I can't help but thinking they are overdoing it here to the point it's almost too long. But in the other-other hand that's kind of the joke.

Also Seth. I am not a fan of him but I think he provides a decent voice and the singing is ok.

Finally , the character. He looks funny enough and I guess it's adequate for Seth to play someone who wants to flirt with Marge. On the other hand this is way overused at this point. But again, after two seasons of Bart gets a girlfriend this doesn't look so tiresome now.

So I guess it may be watchable but I still can't see why they would cancel a chance to develop Roger Meyers Jr. for this.
    My Simpsons homage!

I'm more interested in Homer finding that train than watching Seth Macfarlane being a complete jerk. Hopefully the Homer plot is the main one.

I wonder if they will somehow make fun of Family Guy, now with Seth in the show.

I pray to God that the 8-year old conservative girl is not my avatar. Probably won't be, since current Simpsons needs to exploit every trendy new guest star possible, unless they just give the part to MacNeille. Also, Allison is only seven.
My favorite and least favorite episodes from each season:
S1 - Krusty Gets Busted / The Call of the Simpsons S2 - Lisa's Substitute / The War of the Simpsons S3 - Homer at the Bat / Dog of Death S4 - Marge vs. the Monorail / Whacking Day S5 - Marge on the Lam / Bart Gets an Elephant S6 - Who Shot Mr. Burns?: Part 1 / Another Simpsons Clip Show S7 - 22 Short Films About Springfield / Homerpalooza S8 - You Only Move Twice / The Twisted World of Marge Simpson S9 - Lisa the Skeptic / All Singing, All Dancing S10 - Lisa Gets an 'A' / Sunday, Cruddy Sunday S11 - Treehouse of Horror X / It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Marge S12 - Trilogy of Error / Tennis the Menace S13 - Half-Decent Proposal / The Sweetest Apu S14 - Moe Baby Blues / Brake My Wife, Please S15 - The Way We Weren't / Bart-Mangled Banner S16 - Sleeping with the Enemy / Thank God, It's Doomsday S17 - The Girl Who Slept Too Little / Homer's Paternity Coot S18 - 24 Minutes / The Boys of Bummer S19 - Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind / Treehouse of Horror XVIII S20 - How the Test Was Won / Dangerous Curves S21 - O Brother, Where Bart Thou? / The Greatest Story Ever D'ohed S22 - Homer the Father / The Fool Monty S23 - Holidays of Future Passed / Politically Inept, with Homer Simpson

That train appears to be in a mall, not in Itchy & Scratchy Land at all. Did they rewrite that much? I can't see Mike Price writing 2 scripts with Homer bringing home a trainset in one production season, but who knows at this point
500 episodes, about 200 good ones.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
The episode "Whacking Day'' curiously aired the same day as Seinfeld's "The Contest'', which deals with a different kind of whacking.

I bet about half of the episode will take place in the future, so it doesn't really sound like an episode spoiler, in my opinion. More like just the general premise.

I hate to admit it but despite the fact that it's obviously yet another marriage crisis episode with Seth MacFarlane in it that last promo of Dangers On A Train makes it look like a quite decent marriage crisis episode. I guess it's because Marge does seem to act realistically worried and normal. In fact if this weren't season 24 I'd even say the promo has a vibe of Life On The Fast Lane to it. At the very least it should be much better than...Bonfire of the Manatees as far as 'some guy tries to seduce Marge' episodes go...although I know that wouldn't be a big achievement. What I'm trying to say is that so far it looks more like an average/good season 14-17 episode rather than one of the worsts from seasons 21 to 24.

Also if the majority of Lisa's episode does take place in the future...I think I misunderstood the premise previously . I was thinking more about school elections, if they are candidates for U.S. presidency we are again in the Bart To The Future continuity or something? I found it to be a little exaggerated that Lisa were actually the president in that episode. It could still be a good episode but kind of a gimmicky flash forward too. Until now most of the future episodes were about how the whole family/Springfield will live in the future. If they start to do adult Lisa episodes about specific subjects or whatever then it will look a little like a spin off. It doesn't have to be bad, but it kind of reveals they are short of ideas with the characters as they are.

Nah. I honestly think they try to stay away from the old episodes as much as possible because they probably think that everyone who watched the show now except the hardcore fans like us have never seen the old episodes.

All right, point taken. That was just my theory. I still think they tend to gravitate away from earlier characters, though.

Haha, I didn't think too much about it, but it's true. It's not only that they appear the first time, it's how they disappear when Homer puts the couch in the bed. At least the first time you can think they entered suddenly in the room but the second time they should be nereby.

I'd say it's waaaaay more plausible for them to be gone when Homer dumps the couch on the bed. You know how long it takes to get a couch upstairs? And the stuff has to be removed from the bed to make room for the couch. Plenty of time for the kids to sod off.

If you look at the sequence of scenes before they appear, however:
    1. scene in full shot with the whole bed clearly visible
    2. scene in medium shot, but with the part of the bed where they'll eventually sit clearly visible
    3. scene with the door they would have to enter clearly visible and closed
    4. the scene where the kids are suddenly on the bed. They have about a second during Marge's close up to run into the room unnoticed, start reading their magazines and hear Homer & Marge's conversation so they can react to it before the camera zooms out
