I'm really surprised, even shocked, to see that there IS optimism and hope here. I was beginning to think that nearly all the members were embittered and angry people. =P ("I kid ! I kid 'cause I love. I'm telling ya, the best folk in the world are NHC folk !")
I'm impatient to see this new season, especially the Sideshow Bob episode. I was waiting for it since more than one year.
Season does sound more promising than almost anything in 23. Regarding the SLH thing, I think it'd be cool if they actually killed him off (and didn't replace him), it's not like SLH got any real screen time in the show at all since the film. It'd give them an edge that I D'oh-Bot almost had.
We have a new episode in the US copyright Database
To Cur, With Love
Is this the episode about "Homer and the family dog" One definition of a cur is "a dog considered to be inferior or undesirable; a mongrel"
Intelligent title is unintelligent.

Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

I would prefer bland, direct titles to puns. "Bart Gets An Elephant". I instantly know what the episode is about and can remember it.
They should of just titled the episode "Santa's Little Helper" and be done with it.

''To Cur, With Love'' -----> ''The Dog of Homer''

i care more about episode quality than the titles.
anyway, really looking forward to this episode.

To be fair if they somehow manage to make season 24 even worse than season 23 then the show officially needs to end. Some of the episodes sound promising but it's the execution that matters, and from the past decade or so I'm not confident about it. However let's see what happens first...

Well, of course I am, but it's good to see that you, Raspberry, and myself aren't the only ones!

i haven't had cable so i haven't able to watch much of anything, but i'm getting cable soon and i can't wait for this season.
We're paying for cable and it's absolutely worthless, none of us watch it.
Another episode in the US Copyright Database
HOMER GOES TO PREP SCHOOL
At least this time we have a title that is not a pun even though it is probably a variation on Homer Goes to College. Personally, it could be a hack of that previous episode.
I actually like that title though so there's that. Thanks as always Biff!

Homer can't go to prep school! I WON'T ALLOW IT!

Hmm, 2 episodes. Let's see how many episodes have been paroided just from titles and breif discriptions.
# Bart's Dog Gets An F
# Homer goes to college
# How Munched is that Burdie in the Window
# The Front
# (Worlds ugliest dog contest, that terrible ep with 5 plots)
# To Survil With Love (almost forgot the most obvious one)

That would be September 30 - but given that this year's Emmys are September 23 (on ABC), that date would make the most sense, even if it does mean the possibility of two new episodes followed by three weeks of repeats/pre-emptions.
Fox has started some shows' seasons early, but they had special reasons (for example, when they started The Simpsons four weeks early in 1994 because they wanted to air it with the newly-acquired NFL; So You Think You Can Dance? and Glee started early in 2009, mainly in order to get SYTYCD finished in December (and even at that, it ended one week earlier than the producers wanted).
After reading over those episodes I'm excited about a couple but you can really tell which ones are going to be awful.
For a change, the Halloween special this year sounds like it might be really good, obviously the SLH episode sounds promising and the Roger Myers episode is an interesting premise, let's hope the episode isn't told by his napkin though.
Aside from them there's a lot of guest star heavy episodes there (namely Penny-Wise Guys and The Day the Earth Stood Cool) but the ones that sound like they're going to be really bad are the steam-engine episode (That sounds like a bottom 5 episodes contender) and Moonshine River. Moonshine River sounds like it might be a clip show, but what's bothering me is they haven't gotten Laura or Jessica back for the episode, honestly I don't think I can even tell you who Jenny was.
