i'm curious to see this. i remember years ago before the movie even started production talk of doing theatrical shorts. if this one is good, i think they should keep it up. id love to an itchy and scratchy short on the big screen
I wouldn't go and see a movie I didn't already plan to for it, but this has me intrigued and I'd definitely want to see it.
Oh now I want to rewatch 'A Streetcar Named Marge'.

Talk about a captive audience. Now I guess if you want to see your movie, you HAVE to watch.
They probably want to see viewers' reaction to using 3D on The Simpsons and not in a THOH episode. If it's well-received, they'll think of making the next full-length movie in 3D. It's a popular fad now.
Or maybe they're just desperate for ratings.
I will probably watch the movie because of that. I actually watched all the other Ice Age movies but I have decided not to watch this one. I am not really a fan of the saga and Scrat is the only character I actually enjoy, but I watch most animated movies cause unless they are REALLY bad, they usually have enough jokes to keep you entertained.
I like how they made the promo card look as if it was a classic cartoon and I enjoy traditional animation in 3D more than CGI or life action in 3D. Also I think Maggie could be a good choice for a short since- I hope- it could be mostly mute and that will be different to the regular show.

500 episodes, about 200 good ones.

The episode "Whacking Day'' curiously aired the same day as Seinfeld's "The Contest'', which deals with a different kind of whacking.
Yes, it would be fantastic if this looked more cartoony and included more squash and stretch than the modern show, but most probably it will just look like The Simpsons Movie.
Now this I want to see (the 100009th Ice Age film...not so much). I've always wanted them to do shorts like this with Maggie in the style of 'Streetcar'. Actually, when I was younger, I actually wrote some premises for some silent Maggie daycare shorts.
Now it's just the case of seeing whether they pull it off right. Well anything is better then Lady GaGa's adventures in Springfield, right?
Also I agree with the above posts, seeing something more lively with the animation again would be great, although I somewhat doubt it...
This looks good. I'd watch the m,ovie just to see this![]()

Any way we Simpsons fans see Maggie and NOT Ice Age whatever number they're on now?
(Would be nice if they show the Maggie clip before the Pixar film 'Brave'...I'm planning to see that on June 22)
Catch a matinee, leave after the short.
UP AND ATOM!
It could have been worse if Fox owned Madagascar instead of Ice Age. Even though both are almost equally mediocre I find the second saga a little funnier in the gag department than the other one.
Good, f'n call.. I may just do that if I can find a matinee cheap enough, and with luck.. hopefully on a slow day... so it's not busy with all those little kids screaming and running around during the short.
If it's all about Maggie and David directed it.. then I want to see it.
Hopefully this will be released on a future Simpsons BD/DVD season set as well.

TBH, Ice Age 1 was a good movie. Best non-Pixar cg movie I saw back then. Caught Ice Age 2 because I liked the first, and it was pretty bad. No idea if the third is good or bad. I'd stay for the fourth, if only for Scrat the saber-toothed squirrel. Plus, if I rolled out to catch an early movie I might as well stay. Got nothin else to do at 10am on a Saturday.
The first Ice Age has a better plot than the other two, but I actually found the whole cast, except Scrat and probably Diego, uninteresting, the gags very uneven and a lot of the ideas copied from Monsters Inc. , Shrek, Prince of Egypt or Three Men and a Baby. The second and third ones are not movies but products, they are a collection of gags designed by comitee to fit in very-by-numbers plots, but some of those gags are actually funnier than the ones in Ice Age 1, the animation and designs get better and Sid changes from just irritating to irritating in a slightly funny way.
Personally I found Ice Age 3 to be the funniest one, even though it had the worst and most contrived plot.
So I don't really know what was the best one IMO, I'd put all of them about the same, they should have probably just made Scrat shorts and forget about everybody else, that or coming up with more charismatic characters for the main trio, cause the setting is legitimately different and interesting for an animated film.
This does sound pretty exciting. Especially as...
As for the animation...Originally Posted by David Silverman on Twitter

it'll be uploaded on youtube sometime after the movie is out, or at least you would think so.

My reaction when I first saw the ad (In the end of the season's finale)- ANOTHER Ice Age movie?? Wow!
Second reaction- What?! They advertised a Simpsons short cartoon during the episode? Before the credits?!
Eh, I'll get over it.
On a side note, I will probably go watch the movie anyways.
I'm not keen on watching the movie so I'll wait until a brave soul uploads the clip on YouTube.
I'm not sure why they are doing this. An experiment, maybe? I hope they aren't planning on making the episodes in 3D...
Well, the posters themselves look good. I really hope they do it in that fashion, those drawings really look unique; it's be a shame to do them in the Simpsons Movie style.
Don't know why they'd be doing this though and have mostly no desire to see it but it is interesting in that it does hint towards something.
