Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

One of the grievances is that the show isn't as awe-inspiring as classic Simpsons.

Sometimes, however, I think people give the early seasons a little too much credit. Sure, they were fun, very well-written and produced. But that's still putting them in an unattainable pedestal. They weren't that brilliant or groundbreaking. They were fun.

That's the problem with being a hardcore fan. They think it's so brilliant, that it can make them lose sight of what's important, especially if newer episodes can't surprise them the same way the show once did. It's the same problem with films like Indiana Jones and Star Wars.

Some of the current episodes aren't as fun, but still consistent and watchable. And many others can still be pretty good.

Really? I don't think the older episodes are better because sentiment, they're better because they're BETTER.

That's a rather crude, generalizing and simplified way of looking at it. But hey, it's your call.....

Well, it's the truth. You love to put the face of hapless nostalgia on the fans who like the older episodes in order to make the new episodes more acceptable. It's a very easy and convenient way to dismiss intelligent, thought out, or hell simply sincere opinions by conjuring up a bias of sorts to justify
