What a joke of a review thread. I can't even be bothered to share my thoughts with the rest of you. It's not worth it.
Can you add some negative numbers to the tally? Let's make this a full Hurt & Heal number.
I didn't watch it because I wasn't home when it aired.
But when I see the the pool's result, the episode looks pretty good.

Okay, now I'm glad I missed this episode.

Does anyone feel the writers are really stepping up their game regarding the background gags? Fast-paced, don't drag on like some of the main jokes do, and are usually more inventive than the gags which we're actually supposed to devote attention to. The Conga Line sentence was pretty funny for instance, the soliloquies gag was clever, the couple who didn't avoid doing the limbo dance while running all panicked...For my money, the best joke in the entire past episode, "Beware My Cheating Bart", was Homer's annotations, which are only on screen for less than 3 seconds.
The dressing is good, wish I could say the same for the main entry. Odd how more effort and effective humor is found on things few will notice.

You know, you guys could actually try to change the tide in this thread instead of bitching about it.

I really enjoyed this episode. The plot was faced-paced and enjoyable with Bart being up to his usual self. The gags were also really clever and funny, like the cabins gaga and Homer failing to strangle Bart. Everyone was in character too and the ending was handled well. 5/5
You can do anything if you put your mind to it.
Everything happens for a reason.
Just be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.
Don't worry about the world ending today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.
1/5, minor funny moments but overall...just terrible. Al Jean needs to go, NOW. This is coming from a guy that gives damn near EVERY Simpsons episode a 7/10 or better...so obviously this episode sucked and Al Jean needs to stop ruining the show.
I only got to see a few parts of this apparently controversial episode. I gotta admit, it had some surprisingly fluid animation in some parts.
Seasons 1-9 - Classic era
10-12 - Scully era
13-16 - Silver age
16.5 - Into the abyss
17 - The shit abyss
18-24 - Zombie Simpsons

Yeah, and some interesting tidbits in that article about him. I didn't know someone could become a well-known cruise ship speaker.

One of the very few things I did like in this episode was the callback to the magician from The Great Simpsina.
Yeah I just caught Great Simpsina in syndication last week too, the reference was appreciated. Unfortunately it did remind me that that was a easily superior episode though....
The only thing that kept me interested was the fact that after this episode, The Simpsons have hit every continent now, haven't they?
The correct title for this episode is "A Totally Stupid Thing Bart Will Probably Do Something Similar to in the Future."

I missed this one again and the one before.
I dread watching it though considering there's a zero in the choices...
this episode had its late-era problems, but really it was pretty good. and some good jokes: Satan accepted my offer!, and the first appearance of Dave the Lifeguard.
and I think I spotted their DFW drawing:

My first post on this forum! Yay!
I loved the episode, I really did. I don't know where you get that this is out of character for Bart, I thought it was sweet. Bart wanted to go on the cruise so deeply, he sold his stuff. No one's mentioned how Skinner bought the slingshot just to cut it? I thought that was kind of funny. He didn't realize how short it was be, so he took drastic measures to make the stay longer. Don't forget, it's a cartoon.
The episode had a few things that remind me of the Simpsons Movie for some reason, I can't put my finger on what, but that is definitely not a bad thing.
I give the episode a 5/5, one of my favorite of the season.
