I recently heard that during the late 90s, the Barter run in syndication ended and was never seen again. What I haven't heard of is old episodes that were never updated for the normal run. I do have a couple of old episodes, like "Last Exit" and "So It's Come to This" synd. versions, but the former looks really over-sharpened compared to "Come". If you want, you can talk about these old never-updated episodes right here on this thread... if you have any distant memories about them.

Ive seen a syndicated version of THOH V with a slightly different couch gag. The dismembered family crashes through the floor (like the zombie family in IV) and then swaps parts. I do not have evidence to prove this though, but its in my head.

Ohh, I get it. He's saying that some episodes are of higher resolution quality than others. Like "So It's Come to This" had better quality, when "Last Exit" was low quality...I think?

No. I just notice a whole bunch of scratches on the film, and there also seems to be some minor audio cutouts.

I somewhat noticed this back when I watched syndicated Simpsons, I remember episodes like $pringfield looking like shit. But I always chalked it up to the local Fox signal, because no matter what I watched on it like certain episodes of Seinfeld or That 70s Show or whatever other syndicated show they all looked awful as well.

I do think that it might have used to be chalked to the signal, but the copy of LETS I watched looked like it had a very scratchy reel. And this is an airing that just aired recently-March 2012 on WFXT. It should also be noticed that this is the version with the infamous 1F01 couch gag. It even said the episode was sponsored by BUTTERFINGER in the caption bars, for Pete's sake! So it must have not been shown for a long time here in Needham, or possibly anywhere in New England. The DVD copy I also have is clean and has nearly no scratches. So what happened? And why isn't this airing chalked to the WFXT signal?
To make a long post short: Fix this episode.

Of course old episodes of Simpsons should be re edited and composed, because the old ones are no one more being liked. There should be some changes in graphics and themes and layouts.
