Ah damn, well at least the second and third best episodes made it, plus Grift is pretty good too, but Criticize Dinner still had no business making it in, vastly overrated...

Well I'd never expect to see a THOH episode win, especially this one. Still, I'm satisfied that Grift of the Magi came second. What a horrible beating it was given throughout this tournament but it still managed to pull through. I'm guttered D'oh'ses wasn't a finalist, but oh well, it's Season 11. Who cares?

Pretty weak final four. Not that there would be a strong one for 11, but IMO the three best episodes of the season didn't make it. It could have been worse I guess. The ones remaining are at least okay episodes for the most part.

I think that Season 11 is being usurped by Season 23 as we speak.

People say that every new season.

The current season definitely has its crap but this is a tournament that rewards high mark episodes over consistency and the best episodes from Season 23 clearly outshine the best of Season 11.

Granted, the WORST episodes of Season 23 could give the terrible episodes of Season 11 a good run as well.

Would've preferred THOH X got eliminated instead of Tap Dance, but Dinner got through, and that's what matters.

Current Simpsons feels like almost a completely different entity, whilst season 11 at least still feels like classic Simpsons, just warped... very, very warped.

And personally I prefer the latter to the former.

I'd argue Season 20 is no worse than 11, and likely better since its worst episodes are only boring instead of abominations. 17 and 19 and 22 have at least one episode each I'd say is on par or surpasses Behind the Laughter, Season 11's best.

That's pretty much how I feel. I'll never look at the Scully era in the same light as the classic era. But I think that even if the direction of the show was far removed from what made the show great in its early seasons, at least it could be genuinely funny, without so much of the forced and awkward humor seen in the later episodes. It at least seemed like the producers knew where they wanted the show to go, and weren't just going through the motions. I don't see the Scully era as being part of "Zombie Simpsons" (which for me starts around season 16-17)... it's more like "Mutant Simpsons" if anything.

Don't get me wrong, there were still a number of straight-up clunkers in these seasons, and only a handful of episodes that could really stand up to the classics. But there are some episodes (including some that people around here seem to hate) that I can enjoy for their humor in spite of their weak plots and poor characterization. If the over-the-top wackiness wasn't very Simpson-like, at least it sometimes was entertaining and well-executed for what it was.

i'm not happy about the outcome of this one, but season 11 is fantastic. i look at it with the "classic era." in fact it's my 5th favourite season.
