Fox 2012 postseason baseball schedule announced
Fox has announced its postseason baseball schedule for 2012, and there will be definite pre-emptions of The Simpsons on 10/14 (for NLCS game 1) and 10/28 (for World Series game 4). 10/21 is a "maybe"; there is a pre-emption only if NLCS game 6 is needed and ALCS game 7 is not (if both are played, Fox airs NLCS game 6 that afternoon, and TBS airs ALCS game 7 that night).
Unless Fox wants to air a THOH episode 10 days early (and schedule it on a possible pre-emption date), expect Treehouse of Horror XXIII to air on November 4.

RIP Futurama.
I guess F the THOH... b/c it will most likely suck anyway.
But yeah... fuck Fox.
Why not just air it on Halloween after the game (if there are any that night) I know its on a wednesday, but come on... this is getting fucking old Fox.
Fox + THOH Sched. = Gaytarded Douchefag Scheduling.
There.. I hope that sounded angry and very offensive towards Fox Studios.
Pre-empting shows for baseball is fine.
Airing a halloween special in Nov. year after year... is so... douchey.

2013 will currently be the last year FOX has post season baseball. There is an possibility that after next year, FOX loses baseball and the 26th season of The Simpsons if that happens, will be required to show the episode in October.
It is indeed a possibility for FOX to lose baseball because the network had the NHL fron 1994-1999 but failed to extend their contract and as of now haven't been able to get it back.

^I doubt it'd happen, but it is possible.
Also, don't forget we might get a THOH XXV regardless since the number of episodes ordered implies holdovers even after Season 25 ends...unless Seasons 24 and 25 are extra long episode wise...

The main reason they don't is, nobody expects a new Simpsons episode - not even a Halloween one - to air on any day other than Sunday.
Besides, even though Halloween is an "if necessary" baseball game (World Series Game 6), if they did need one, chances are it wouldn't end until after 11:30 PM in the east, which is too late to start a Simpsons episode (the local Fox affiliates are already screaming that their 10 PM news programs are delayed by baseball in October - a number of them use the fact that it's on at 10 while everybody else's is on at 11 as a selling point).
