American dad's continuity is something of a grey area for me. Unlike Futurama, where continuity is important to me....AD just...I don't know why I'm so willing to let it slide...I just...I just am. I think that it's because no matter how great it is with it's story telling I still subconsciously think "It's a Seth show, don't take it too seriously".
Just be thankful
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the year was off Stan and Francine traveled to considering Hayley's age of somewhere between 18-21, but I assumed it must of been for the sake of a joke or two so I let it slide. I'm not liking the way this season has been trending as of late this is another average episode for me 2.5/5 rounded to a 3/5. Once again the Roger scenes were the highlights and saved this episode for me.
Jimbo Jones: [about Homer] I hear that guy's ass has it's own congressman!
Bart Simpson: I wash myself with a rag on a stick.
Homer Simpson: [takes cap out of dryer and puts it on his head] Mmmmm... I CAN feel three types of softness.
Lisa Simpson: [from upstairs] Dad, what are you doing down there?
Homer Simpson: Washing my fat guy's hat honey!
mind you the 1996 still a pretty big mistake continuity or not (maybe more light will be shred on it in the future, but I really think that episode might have been originally written with Steve in mind since it make official age match almost perfectly*)
*they actually do if you assume the episode was written in 2011

Time travel episodes always require the user to not care to some extent so they can suspend their disbelief regarding the episodes mechanics. However, not just travelling back to stop Hayley destroying her kidney and being way off with the dates just screams laziness.
They should use Francine and Roger more often. Or even Hayley and Stan (when's the last we've seen an episode about them?). It's been too much of Stan paired with Roger's persona reciently.
Dear Fox Studios,
The Roger Show; every main character is a different Roger persona i.e. the entire main cast is: Seth Macfarlane.
It would make $$$$$ and be cheap to produce, and we have so many decades of Roger antics... he's 1601+ years old.
Think of how many episodes could be on earth about his escapdes... in different personas, during different decades, spanning everything before.. and perhaps after American Dad!
Now.. think of all his adventures he had on his own planet.... perhaps even on other alien planets, now imagine Roger's parents, his childhood, all his different species of alien friends.. and his crazy future after the Smiths all die...
When it comes to Roger's life story...
the sky is the limit.
This could be the best show ever.
I have to pitch it, how do I get ahold of Seth; I have 1000 ideas for it!
We could make it all about Roger and his family so it would fit in with Fox's 'family' oriented comedy block.. that's not for families... but for adults... what, it's true.
Roger is a well liked character and established at Fox.. a spin-off would be $$$$$$$$$$$$$ for Fox and Seth.
And Seth could brag that he had his own sci-fi esque show just like Matt, and just like FG that it gets better ratings than your other show as wel Mattl, b/c hey... you know it would do good in the ratings.
It's ROGER, you know how many people tell me they watch AD only for Roger.... almost everyone ever!
Obviously we would get a regular full cast (as we'd have to explore Rogers family), but I'd start by saying how cheap it will be that Seth will be everyone.... as Roger is 100 different characters... blah blah blah .... solid ratings... blah blah established character dominance....blah $$$$$$$$... blah blah financial growth... blah blah... big $$$$$$ franchise for merch.. blah easy $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ blah for Fox Studios.

Deadly serious, 21 and 24.. prepare the stereo net cannon!
I'm thinking here 'what would Al Jean do'..... muahahha ha hahha hahhahahhahahah..... I want a mansion too, dammit..... Seth I'll be the show-runner!
Al get started (get it?) on all 500+ episodes the series will inevitably produce tomorrow.
Muhahahhahahhahahahaahahahahahahahahah hah ah hah aha ha ha hahha hahah ahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha hah!
I'm f'n serious.

I thought it was the best. Anyways I still am friends with my friends even after what they have done to me. You find this one episode terrible and you go straight to trying to have it cancelled. Seriously?

Roger isn't the only reasons I watch AD. I also like Steve, Stan, and Francine quite a bit along with a lot of other AD characters. Roger is actually kinda weak when not paired with someone else. His personas only go so far. I'd be ok with a Roger spin off after American Dad ends, but it'd be quite a terrible move to have one of the most popular characters leave the show so suddenly.
I actuallly saw a clip of an ad panel where they said if they ever do a spin off it'd be with Steve, and he'd be a runaway drug burnout or something haha I'll see if I can find the clip and post it here.
