I actually have seen the show, nearly the whole first season in fact. I think I alluded to that in my initial post. Still view it as nothing special and pretty annoying, both the show and a majority of it's fanbase.

And some people are just plain creepy. Had some dude who is like 25 at work come up to me and shove his phone in my face "hey look at this awesome Pony wallpaper! You should totally check out this show, it's awesome!" Best back the fuck up son, shit.

I did see the show just to find out what all the fuss was about and thought it was fairly mediocre and forgettable. For a show intended for little girls it is perfectly okay but why thousands of millions of grown men hype this show as if it were written by Alan Moore and animated by Don Bluth is beyond my understanding.

It seems bronies are easier to impress than me. Cause I've grown up with cartoons like The Real Ghostbusters, The Simpsons, Pinky and the Brain and Batman the animated series. Shows that elevated the standards for made-for tv cartoons and did things like satirical humor, references to/spoofs of classic films and literature, emotional conflicts and other things in ways you'd never expected to see in shows like these. So I suppose I am harder to impress than the bronies who praise this thing through the roof while I can't see anything but a generic, run of the mill kids show that there's nothing particularly ground-breaking or hilarious about.

After seeing how popular it's become I recently decided to watch this show, and have subsequently almost finished season 2!
It is well written, designed etc. but perhaps one of the biggest reasons people are watching this show is wanting to feel how they felt watching cartoons as a child, some people at my school were still into Pokemon, and I loved it when I was younger, but after watching some of the show again I didn't get anywhere as much enjoyment as I used to, and stopped watching after a few episodes due to boredom, yet I find myself watching this new show which wasn't around when I was a kid almost as much as the Simpsons. Not only that I'd have to rate some MLP episodes as better than many post-classic Simpsons episodes, though who knows how long this show's greatness will last, seeing as there is not as much content to be derived from MLP's world as there is from the Simpsons or other shows. I feel it's popularity will wane after a while, and I hope all the loudmouthed bronies will stop giving the show a bad name from their actions.

I go to a site where bronies frequent in the off topic section (bungie) and it seems, on there anyways, that many of the loudmouthed arrogance is actually the ones that hate the show calling them out. But of course, there always is those one or two assholes that completely spams every thread he sees with pony shit.

If I ever saw it in earnest, I'd probably be hooked. Disturbing thought!

Hazel, it's a cartoon and it didn't look great darker since the mlp style is really bright and vibrant colour wise.

I like MLP, but it's hard to be in the mood for it because it's not particularly clever. A show throwing out odd references to its adult fanbase (e.g. Derpy Hooves) isn't enough for me - it'd have to contain some over-the-head humour or subtext that ultimately wouldn't really gel with the purpose of MLP to totally appeal. Also, it's seriously the long-reigning and suddenly better-produced extension of a gigantic 80s ad campaign to sell merchandise to children. (I find it hilarious that now, a lot of their revenue comes from adults who must have that Pinkie-Pie duvet cover. As it should be; I only think it's morally wrong to make children want a bunch of crap and feel like their life is worthless if they can't have it.)

Love the characters, love the art style (usually I hate that "look" of animation), love the theory of the whole thing, but don't really feel like watching it all the time. The "Winter Wrap Up" song and a few well-known clips have been known to cheer me up, but I could've had all of that without watching whole episodes. In honesty, a lot of "Bronies" probably feel the way I do but still perpetuate its internet presence because they like the idea. And that's OK.

I have the same feeling as you. I don't find it groundbreaking or anything but i'll watch it occasionally to put me in a happy mood. It's a very happy, cheerful show which is good for what it is. I'll admit it's pretty original too. Love the whole cutie mark thing and the songs are catchy as hell.

I thought season 3 was a bit dissapointing. Loved the two part first episode and a few others (too many pinkie pies, wonderbolts academy) the rest were average. Finale was ok.

Now to watch that video insomnia posted.

Spike At Your Service and Magic Duel are the only episodes I really like out of season 3. The rest is meh.

I'm not as into it as I was before. Last time I watched an episode was when season 3 ended.

I haven't even watched any season 1 or 2 episodes since season 2 ended, I guess it was just a phase for me maybe.
I'm gonna try and watch an episode again.

    Yeah me too.

But i'm like this with any show i ever watch. I'll go through a phase where i'm obsessed then i'll slowly ween off it for a bit then get into it again eventually.

I'll never really abandon anything unless I realize it's terrible though.
