You don't think that S10 of Family Guy better than S23 of The Simpsons?

A lot of fans consider that Season 23 is one of the worst Simpsons season- for Treehouse of Horror, Politically Innept ,Moe Goes From Rags to Riches and other episodes.
In the same time, howewer, in new season of Family Guy were many episodes which it is possible to call "almost-Simpsons"- Livin' on a Pryer, Burning Down the Bayit, Seahorse Seashell Party and non-Simpsons, but simply perfect episodes- Back to the Pilot, Thanksgiving, Cool Hand Peter etc.
And I want to set a question- maybe, Family Guy already overtook The Simpsons?

Classic Simpsons > Family Guy > (most of) Modern Simpsons

Not all episodes of [The Simpsons] season 23 and [Family Guy] season 10 have been aired, so I'll judge when I've seem them all.
Everybody's a jerk. You, me, this jerk. That's my philosophy.

Well the thing is that when the simpsons are at their worst they are simply boring, when family guy is at its worst it is ghastly

While season 23 didn't have a lot of good episode in my opinion, Season 10 of FG is wildly uneven but with a lot of episode I really didn't like (Seahorse Seashell Party, Screams of Silence: The Story of Brenda Q, Thanksgiving among a few)

Simpsons have had three good episodes this year: The Book Job, The Food Wife and the Future episode.

Family Guy only had one: Back to the Pilot, and I wouldn't call it "perfect" as the OP claims it to be.

I only see a few Family Guy episodes a year, but it's true--when they're bad, they're ATROCIOUS. I haven't given a Simpsons episode an F (and I've seen every one), but there are several Family Guy shows that have hit that low for me (Family Gay, Not All Dogs Go To Heaven, Patriot Games). Both shows have been running a parallel line of decline since their best years, but Family Guy's is much, much lower to me.

To be fair, they do deliver a couple of very cool episodes a year. I liked last season's whodunit and Christmas show, and this year's pilot revisiting.

Family Guy v.s The Simpsons really? I'd go for FG v.s. South Park in terms of decline as they go for more similar shock techniques. Simpsons v.s. American Dad is fair in my eyes as both reach more for boring in a tight spot. Simpsons v.s. South Park for longevity and not being able to leave pop culture alone for five minutes, but with one of these that is the point. I don't see it as a fair comparison seeing as Family Guy's prime was much shorter than that of The Simpsons, and I haven't found it comparable to TS since Season 4. They're not doing any of the same things right or wrong unless I've missed something - both are force-of-habit shows for most viewers who've been around at least six years. Oh, are any of these shows consistently good any more? I.m.o not really - the temptation to poll, say, Season 3 of all of them against each other.

Instinct actually told me to vote for FG but this thread has reminded me of a few things I really didn't like. Neither - so why do I still go out of my way to watch both?

Even an atrocious family Guy episode usually has at least one really funny joke in it. A bad Simpsons episode, while not has offensively bad, has no redeeming factors to make it worth watching. Plus with Family Guy, its like, well... its Family Guy. They don't care, and you're not supposed to care much about it either beyond the jokes. With The Simpsons, however, its hard to watch any episode that isn't a 4/5 at least and not be reminded of how far the series has sunk.

Nowadays, The Simpsons is consistently bad, and Family Guy is inconsistently good. Uneven shows are harder to watch, because you can get frustrated that the same writing staff is putting out shit and quality at the same time. In that regard, The Simpsons is less offensive, because it is worse.

I'm gonna side with HomerIAm, and wait until the seasons are over before judging too harshly.

Family Guy's quick irrelevant cutaways means it can be hit and miss. Even there shit episodes have a laugh or two. I have no problem with Family Guy's absurdness - it works for them. But a talking rag in the Simpsons??? Why?

In the war between Family Guy and the Simpsons; both are shows that were good but have declined into "really bad" territory; while both have the usual medicore, overrated and really bad episode, Family Guy seems to have more of those episodes that make you turn the TV off. I know it'd be a shame to think of Modern Simpsons as better then Family Guy but what choice do I have, that season has 2 good episodes while Family Guy has 1.

Well sir, I would say the Simpsons, but this is a dire situation. The Simpsons' entire season 23 run has been a train-wreck travesty, with the exception of two episodes. "The Book Job", and "Holidays of Future Passed". Every single episode other than that is a D+ at best. At least Family Guy season 10 has some C+ episodes, like Thanksgiving and Amish Guy, along with a REALLY good "Road to" (or in this case Back to) sort of episode. Also it doesn't help that season 23 has two of the worst episodes of the shows entire run (the rag one and THOH one)

Simpsons season 23 so far: D-
Family Guy season 10 so far: C-

As much as I hate to say it, right now, Family Guy IS better than the Simpsons.

So I'm the only one that thought Back 2 the Pilot was alright at best?

Tough call - they're both awful. But I'll have to go with season 23 of The Simpsons being better.

Season 23 of The Simpsons as I do not care for Family Guy any more. I did care before its cancellation but after that, it became dead to me.

Family guy humor is not my kind of humor (Random cutscenes and flashbacks that are irrelevant to the plot? I don't like that). I'll stick my opinion to The Simpsons season 23. (Still a fan!)
