Because debate is healthy.
I think that Lisa the drama queen is a good episode but everyone hate it ! I give it a 3,5 or a 3,75/5 but I'm probably the only one in the world who think this episode is good.
For A star is Burns, I don't like this episode at all but a lot of people like it...

Sorry Alexandre but I despise 'Lisa the drama queen'![]()
I enjoy the "Principal and the Pauper". I don't consider it canon or whatever, but I find it humorous and quite interesting.
Whilst I can understand that having the tongue in plain sight for Lisa to find was a bit of a cop out and that realistically Hollis H...whatever could never pocket the tongue so quickly, it really doesn't bother me. They're little things that I can forget considering the strength of the rest of the episode. And personally I love the ending. For what it's worth I can understand FP's point of view (on the subject of always telling the truth), cos as a person I'm terrible at lying and try to always tell the truth. But that doesn't mean I hate the ending. In fact I somewhat admire it for not only being quite unpredictable but also making an intelligent point in the process. And I love Lisa on Homer's shoulders at the end, it's a great ending visual.
As for episodes I like more than others, I guess I'm sorta a S11 apologist... for some episodes. There are definitely a bunch of episodes I dislike, but stylistically I think I prefer it to S17+ at least. Basically I find it average compared to some people who hate the season and see it as one of the worst.
I dunno I always found Lisa the Iconoclast underated amongst season 7, and it gets quite overlooked. Homer believed Lisa all along and did his best to spread the word that Jebediah was a fruad, even if his actions as town cryer were a bit jerkassy I enjoyed it. There were many notable quotes, the cromulent bit too and the song at the end is probably one of my favourites from the show. The explanation doesn't bother me, its not that difficult to suspend belief, you can understnad the motives of the curator and it makes sense. And the ending showed us the Legend of Jebediah was more valuable than the truth, which I agree with.

That information is for the historical archives for people who want to learn about history, not to put a damper on the pride of the local residents during a celebration.
Oh, and the episode around it is quite awesome as far as I'm concerned.
And as for the question, the Principal and the Pauper is the first one that comes to mind. It has the humour and characterizations of classic Simpsons even if the story was unnecessary. Season 9 itself has far more detrimental episodes to the series.

Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.
I use the same scale for all 500 odd episodes. I don't see why we should lower our standards just to polish the turds of Mr Scully and Jean (dis)respectively.
exactly, it disproportionately boosts crap to look the same as genius. For example, compared to the rest of the classic run i'd give Homer the Heretic 4/5. Compared to the rest of the post-classic run, I find The Wife Aquatic and Pranksta Rap 4/5 episodes. Is anyone going to claim these are at the same level as Homer the Heretic?
Yeah I don't really understand grading on a curve either. I mean, yeah, an episode might be good for it's era, but it still feels wrong giving it a higher mark than it actually deserves. I'm not gunna give a 3/5 episode 4/5 just because it happened later in the show's run
I should probably adopt a x/10 system instead. I feel a bit strange rating an episode like this as '2.5/5' and a brilliant episode such as Cape Feare at '5/5'. Makes it look like I believe that the former is half the quality of the latter, which is far from the truth!
Overall, I'd give it a 1.5/10.

i just grade episodes how i see them. 5/5, 4/5, etc.
if i gave a 5/5 to an episode and a 5/5 to another, that doesn't necesarily(sp) mean i think both are equal in quality; i just think they're both worthy of an A, but it could be for different reasons (like one was funnier, one was more character-driven)

I think Saddlesore Galactica and Tennis the Menace were under-rated episodes. They had a lot of good content. As for over-rated, there's a few. A Star Is Burns is one. Burns was in about two scenes. It was just an excuse to show funny films and the Critic. No wonder Matt Groening took his name off the credits. Another one is Trilogy of Error. I thought it was annoying, and not too well done. One more is Last Exit to Springfield. I liked the gag fest, but the plot was mediocre.
I find Rosebud one of the weakest episodes ever, I mean Burn's teddy bear ¬¬
But this episode is really loved in here....
Most of the Scully era is appalling but I've a soft spot for Trilogy of Error.
It's not particularly funny but it's one of the better format benders. I expect most of us found it interesting on the first viewing, and frankly when considered that it's a non-canon idea it's a nicely conducted episode.
