I don't think it's that great either. It's in the most overrated season of the show, and I don't understand why Homer is in such a dilemma. Yes, Maggie loves the bear, but it belongs to Mr. Burns, so he deserves to have it.

Rosebud an overrated bad episode and Saddlesore an underrated good episode? That point of view I cannot comprehend.
Homer's dilemma is to either stand behind Maggie or "sell out" and give the bear to his boss. This is one of the few episodes where Homer shows his love for Maggie. "Rosebud" is one of the all-time classic episodes and gives great insight to Burns' character and makes him more human. It also has several clever references to "Citizen Cane". We also can't forget the guest appearance of the Ramones or the 64 slices of American cheese gag.

I'm perfectly aware of what his dilemma is. What I don't understand is why he should even consider giving the bear to Maggie when it's rightfully Burns' bear, and he knows it.
The question is does Mr Burns deserve a teddy bear over a lovable child like Maggie.
What the fuck is wrong with you? Of course it's "rightfully" Burns bear(despite him not giving a fuck about it for so long which I'm pretty sure might/would take away his ownership of it) but it's more about Maggie's love of the bear and Homer's ability to place his family over monetary gain. It gives a little bit of insight into Burns character but mostly it just fleshes him out to be even more like Charles Foster Kane. The episode is much better if you've seen Citizen Kane(The Simpsons as a whole is much better if you've seen Citizen Kane). Despite him not caring about the bear for so long the bear is a connection to when Burns was last truly happy etc and that is why it is one of the sweetest moments in the show when Maggie gives Mr. Burns the bear in a moment of pity because she realizes it is all he has. It shows Burns that despite him having all this money(and everything that comes with wealth) he isn't fulfilled because he isn't really happy and somewhat thinks happiness is related to his past or trivial things such as a teddy bear.
IT'S ALSO THE 2ND FUNNIEST EPISODE and utilizes Mirkin's wackiness in the best way as it is paired with a nice film parody and character story. So the wackiness isn't the only thing the episode has.

I'm sorry...I just don't see it. This is most likely because of my Asperger's. I think Homer should've given Burns the bear and simply bought a new one for Maggie.
Bought a new one for Maggieoh man FP you crack me up son.
The bear did belong to Burns, but he tossed it away. He didn't hold any real ownership right to it after 6+ decades.
Homer could have got a new bear, but he didn't want to let his daughter down.
When kids love something like a stuffed animal or a toy, they don't want to part with it.
There is so much to love about this episode besides the bear parts, so I can't figure out how someone could call this episode one of the weakest of the series.
Despite the general distaste for Season 10, I think I'm the only one around here who hates Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo.
Favourite/least favourite by seasons that I own (somewhat stolen from Financial Panther):
3 - Dog of Death/When Flanders Failed 4 - Lisa's First Word/So it's Come to This: A Simpsons Clip Show 5 - Secrets of a Successful Marriage/Bart's Inner Child 6 - And Maggie Makes Three/Another Simpsons Clip Show 7 - Marge Be Not Proud/Bart the Fink 8 - Homer's Phobia/The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase 9 - King of the Hill/Trash of the Titans 10 - Wild Barts Can't Be Broken/Maximum Homerdrive
One of the strongest. Not THE strongest.
It beats the adventures in Toronto, Africa, China, England. Ireland and Brazil. And that's on the top of my head!
I actually think that Man in the Blue Flannel Pants is one the best episodes of season 23.
Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo is overrated and it's not a classic but it's decent. Decent to watch, a few laughs but nothing special.
Man in the Blue Flannel Pants is AWFUL...hence it must be one of the best episodes of season 23.
Good point Bartist, those other ones are worse.
So what did BGM get banned for this time...?
EDIT: Just forget it.
Riviera
We know what you did to get him banned, apparently "bitching" constitute ban...
Note he say "Who cares?" before editing...
For god's sake just drop it because I can't take it anymore. I'm serious, Jorge. I gave you a wordy reason as to why and how and all that stuff, you tell me okay, yet you continue with other users.
KNOCK. IT. OFF.
Anyway,
I agree it is the most overrated season, but Rosebud is still my second favorite episode of the entire series.
If you can't take it, call Riviera something even the slightest bit derogatory and you will receive ban too
Just kidding. Ay yes Rosebud, fine episode.
I can't even tell nor care anymore. So whatever. I'm just going to try my best to ignore you as much as I can.
Okay asshole moron![]()
