Going to go outside the box here with the pioneer of prime-time animated sitcoms The Flintstones. King of the Hill and Family Guy get honorable mentions.
The Flintstones is a pretty good show, saw some reruns on Boomerang recently. I don't think it holds up as well as I felt years ago.
Well said The Thompsons, they definitely do.
Ren and Stimpy
Dexter's Laboratory (seriously underrated show that was as clever as a kid show could be and had the most awesome graphic style)
Futurama
Powerpuff girls
Clone High
Mission Hill
Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends
The Flintstones
South Park, Beavis and Butthead and Spongebob have their moments, but I only love the occasional episode. Animaniacs and Pinky and The Brain were pretty good too, but they were a little hit and miss.
And yes I realize Ren and Stimpy went pretty much downhill in their last seasons, still the first ones were so awesomely brilliant that I don't care. Spongebob couldn't exist if not for that series and I still think Ren and Stimpy were better and deserved the fame Spongebob (or The Simpsons) have now.
Also, for pilot episodes that should have had their own series I would say Angora Napkin and Peter Bagge's adaptation of his comic book Hate would have been AWESOME cartoons for adults. At least they produced one episode of each one of them.

Still 'alive': Futurama or South Park.
Overall: Classic Simpsons, King of the Hill and the two above obviously.
The best of the best: King of the Hill is a brilliant show. Possibly one of the most underrated shows I've ever seen. Everything is pure gold: The characters, the stories, the setting, the pace/execution. It's just brilliant and it's a shame that it's gone for another rubbish McFarlane show.

Futurama's first four seasons were solid. But it's not something I 'love'.
American Dad started bad, became good, but sadly now it's just recycling old stories and getting bland.
South Park is fun, but I will never have a desire to watch all the episodes mostly because it's so hit and miss.
Bob's Burgers has definite potential, I liked the first season a-lot, but until I see the second season...(which will no doubt be better, as most second seasons are)...it will just get a runner-up prize.
Archer is my favourite animated comedy airing the airwaves right now. And although I know in a few years, it will eventually decline in quality...the last two seasons have been hi-larous. So it gets my pick here.
Honourable mentions: Daria, The Venture Bros and Home Movies
I like The Flinstones, The Jetsons, Tom and Jerry and my personal fav. Ren And Stimpy![]()
The lack of Beavis and Butt-Head in this poll displeases me....So it's a gotta be Futurama and American Dad!
Also....I miss Drawn Together![]()
Just be thankful

Just some thoughts on the ones I have watched:
Futurama: As others have said, the first four seasons are fantastic. The last season wasn't very good IMO.
South Park: I started getting into South Park over the summer. I watched a good number of the episodes on South Park Studios' site and Netflix, but now it depends on my mood. Some days it's hilarious, others I can't sit through one act,
American Dad: Probably my favorite McFarlane show. Yeah, that's about it.
Family Guy: I used to love it, but now it's just... blech.
Boondocks: I watched a few episodes over the summer. They were of varying quality. I loved the one where Mr. Dubois goes to jail, as well as the Stinkmeaner episodes, but otherwise it wasn't really that memorable.
Cleveland Show: Awful.
ATHF/AUPS1: That's another series of varying quality. Last season was alright, but the ones near the middle of the show's run are the best.
King of the Hill: I used to love it, but now I have a hard time sitting through it. Maybe it's because I've watched it since the 90's and have probably seen every episode.
Uhh, you mean season 4 for ATHF? Because I thought that was the most mixed season of the show's entire run.
Season 2 is the best.
Agreed. You got any ATHF DVD's? I spent in total 25 dollars for the first five volumes a few years back on ebay.
you know, given the amount of shows mentioned that I missed it, it may be a better idea to do a Top ___ Animated Shows thread. Would people post in that if I started it?
Also, what is ATHF?
'Aqua Teen Hunger Force'. Look it up, you won't regret it.
Episode 1:
Don't base your opinion on that episode though, they fix lip sync later, and it gets loads better in season 2.
i'm always willing to watch new TV in my never ending cycle of laziness
Let me know if you like it.
hell yeah i got the volumes 1-5 (and the movie). whow 25 bucks for all of them? i think i spent like 20 a pop as they were released. so do you have any after volume 5, cause i stopped there? i'm just a little ticked off about they way they did the sets though (mixing of show dates, names and seasons).
Well, they might have done it in production order. Never know how or if [as] switches the episodes around. I have 1-5, the movie, volume 7, and AUPS1 season 1.
It gets even better later on. My favorite from that season is Bus of the Undead, episode 3.
Sweet, i'll watch this between my Futurama and Simpsons marathons
It's kind of middle of the road edging between late season 2 (which I thought was the worst part of the season) to early season 3. It's okay, better than 4 and 5, but it doesn't stand a chance against seasons 1 and 2 alone. I can show you a few episodes that were uploaded by someone on Dailymotion.
oh sweet. that's sounds pretty good then. i'll have to buy it when i find it. yeah send if the links if you get a chance.
