I know I know, but this still bothers me...you could make the argument that Maggie is a better emotional episode, V is a Halloween show, and Burns is an iconic hilarious episode, but I just don't see how Homer the Great is better than Homer Badman.

It's not. Doesn't matter, though. The way the Hurt & Heal format works is that invariably more polarizing episodes (and/or Lisa episodes) get sacrificed due to the fact that they're more likely to divide opinion. The haters will always have a greater say in what makes it through and thus even superior episodes will be cast aside for safer, less polarizing ones.

I think it's loved so much by us because of how brilliantly it satirizes things like sexual assault in the US. If you're not from here, it's understandable that you might not be able to fully appreciate it.

Homer Badman and Homer the Great are both reasonably whacky (although with a surprisingly strong emotional side to the story), and as with most Mirkin episodes the quickfire humour is great. Badman is much funnier though in my opinion.

Badman has its satire about the news media going for it too though, Homer's interview on Rock Bottom is funnier than anything in Homer the Great.

Interestingly enough, I would think the French would enjoy Summer of 4 Foot 2 due to that Bastille Day / baguettes line. Then again, Alexandre is from Quebec... and that's a whole different kettle of french.

I feel like an odd duck in here seeing how I've watched all of the classic era episodes easily 20+ times a piece and still watch a handful on a regular basis. Heck, I've got quotes in the original episode capsules for some of these episodes archived in www.snpp.com (from Who Shot Mr. Burns? Part Two to Home Sweet Home-Diddly-Dum-Doodily to Lisa's Wedding).

All of these are fresh in my mind... I honestly wouldn't feel right participating in one of these threads if I'd only seen an episode once or not in the past five years or something.
