Just a reminder to stay on topic everyone, please. There are other places where you can discuss things that don't involve this episode I just deleted over 20 entirely off-topic posts and could have deleted more but I think that's all for now.

This episode wasn't totally shite, that was a pleasant suprise.

They appeared in the sequence in the same order in which they first appeared on the show, with one exception: the one that was shown seventh in the montage (with Homer being squeezed off the couch) actually appeared third in the series (there were only five couch openings used in the first season; this was one of them).
    Nice work. I commend you!

Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

Because that’s a short amount of time to cram that much “data” into, YouTube user acjarsen08 had our collective backs and slowed the intro down to a little over four minutes, giving us the opportunity to catch some of the clips we may have missed when 500 aired:
It’s clear ac’s efforts were appreciated. Out of the 13,000-plus views, the video has over 100 likes and only 2 dislikes.
In other news, it’s hard not to wonder just how long this video will last. There isn’t a whole lot of “official” Simpsons content on YouTube, and considering Fox’s ironclad-like grip it keeps on its content, it wouldn’t be surprised to see this video get pulled, especially as it gets more and more views.

With that in mind, get it while it’s hot

Does anybody know what the one at 2:08 is? For those who can't be bothered to click, the walls are green and instead of the sailboat painting, it's the Mona Lisa.

I could be wrong but I think it is the one where the computer mouse is changing things about the picture before deciding to trash everything. Should have probably aired in either Season 14 or 15.

I thought this was awesome. Big plot, very jokey (which I like), loved Homer and Marge dressing up like Burns and Smithers. I expected a great deal from the 500th episode and was not disappointed. My favorite episode of the season, no doubt.

Not really, but the more I thought about it, that reads more like something a crazed fanboi would write, rather than someone who actually works for the show.

Yes. Please give reasoning as to why this new season 23 episode of The Simpsons wasn't to your liking. That is very unseemly.

    i loved this episode.
some say that the simpsons became worse, but i disagree.

this episode proves the writers their skills, as they dare to defy their own series and still come out with verry good new episodes.
and a 500th episode deserves a special location.

like always they critisize a part of society, and even the town of springfield moves to a new location hoping they will find a better life, even if it was outside of society.
and in the end society starts over again.

the episode is verry entertaining and reminds me of older episodes.
but at the same time it keeps its newer visual jokes based routine.

    i give this episode a 10/10.
which is not rare, there are verry litle episodes that i would rate under a 8/10.

Heh heh, the February 19th me. Well, I just watched this for the second time and I found out that I actually was blinded by a meaningless milestone. It looked promising at the start, but then it just turned into a really horrible tangent with a "oh look, the town doesn't hate us after all" type ending. I do think that it is better than Barting Over, however. But Trash of the Titans and 24 Minutes are better than this. Lowering my grade down to a C+.

Heh, heh, heh...I guess the part where the realization this episode was mediocre at best is going to happen to a lot of people over time. Maybe Jean should hype ever episode as the ____th Spectacular.

What the fuck is wrong with us, why the fuck do we even watch this garbage anymore.

I just know I'm not going out of my way to catch the rest of this season.

I stopped watching new episodes around season 18. Saw some of 19, and 4 episodes from season 20 onwards( "Lost Verizon", "Moe Letter Blues", "At Long Last Leave" for the milestone, and regrettably "The Greatest Story Ever Doh'ed"). I don't feel like I've missed anything important or relevant.
I don't feel like wasting my time on a show that has past its prime. When the show ends someday, I hope it goes out with a bang and not a whimper, but I'm not holding my breath.

    AT LONG LAST LEAVE
Sadly, the worst milestone chapter ever

    BEFORE THE CHAPTER
    * Some of you were surprisingly positives with their reviews and plus this is the 500th chapter so I really wanted watch it

    VERY GOOD
    +
+ "I pick up books like you pick up beers!" "Then you have a serious reading problem."

    GOOD
    + The plot by itself
+ "My last words will be "I can outrun that lion.""
    +
    +
+ "How're you doin', Mr. Assange?" "That's my personal information, and you have no right to know about it."
+ The card in the end (I already took fresh air, now I will complain about this

    BAD
    - The meeting in Springfield (Boring as hell, Ned flanders thing was stupid and I didn't like the callbacks, Sideshow Bob was okey though)
    - So what happened with the grandpa? did they kill him or what?
    -
    - Marge and Homer coming back to Springfield, except for the fact that they were dressed like burns and smithers, nothing was funny at all
    - I liked the final scene with skinner waiting for someone (Until they ruined it with Bart actually going for him)

    FINAL THOUGHS
    * I think they tried to do this chapter special but somehow It failed. The first act was good but then it went downhill.

Yeah I'm starting to lose interest in watching the episodes now. But my curiosity always gets the best out of me, this is afterall one of my favourite shows of all-time and that fact keeps me around even though I should have stopped a few years ago. Blind loyalty/faith at it's finest!
