Some questionable choices again and I was hoping Lisa's Sax would've been higher as in in the top 20, but oh well. Unlike the bottom 50 my personal list won't have many in common with these selections. Happy Colonel Homer did well it was a last minute addition to my list.

Add me to the people hoping Springfield Files shows up. I remember putting it high on my list although I don't know exactly where (the only one I remember was putting Cape Feare 1st)

Springfield files should definitely be on the TOP 40
If it's not heads should roll for that

Homer the Vigilante and Trilogy of Error Seem a bit too high, IMO.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

If memory serves me, you may not see it later tonight. I think it'll show up tomorrow (i.e. it's Top 20; not 21-40).
For some reason, Springfield Files made a great first impression and I've soured on it more and more with repeated viewings.
Most of the gags don't strike me as funny when you see them coming.

Have to agree; at least Lisa's Sax got a respectable position on the chart.

I think Homie the Clown is too high. It's a good episode, but there are plenty of better ones.
Favourite/least favourite by seasons that I own (somewhat stolen from Financial Panther):

    3 - Dog of Death/When Flanders Failed 4 - Lisa's First Word/So it's Come to This: A Simpsons Clip Show 5 - Secrets of a Successful Marriage/Bart's Inner Child 6 - And Maggie Makes Three/Another Simpsons Clip Show 7 - Marge Be Not Proud/Bart the Fink 8 - Homer's Phobia/The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase 9 - King of the Hill/Trash of the Titans 10 - Wild Barts Can't Be Broken/Maximum Homerdrive

Not to question Jims or anything but why is he doing a comparison from the 2004 list when a list was made in 2009?

    HOW DARE YOU QUESTION ME!

(Because the 2004 list was the one that came up when I Googled. If someone's interested in more comparisons, they can do a second analysis and I'll add it to the post.)

I assume he's sad that it's so low.

Myself, I think it was placed pretty accurately.

#40-21 have been posted. I'm not sure if this set is going to be more depressing than the last (because some really great episodes have fallen short now), or if we've reached the point where anything in the list now is really respectable.

People are going to start throwing stuff at me when they find out which episodes missed the Top 10 tomorrow.

    35. Radio Bart
    34. Bart of Darkness
    32. Secrets of a Successful Marriage
    29. Marge Be Not Proud
    25. Summer of 4 Ft. 2

these should all be much higher. At least King-size Homer didn't get any higher. Shouldn't really be on the list but whatever i know people love that episode.

Hey, you voted for The Bob Next Door and Saddlesore Galatica, so let's call it even.

  21. #111

    '40 Lisa the Iconoclast'

    Should be slightly higher.

    '38 Lisa's Wedding'

    Should be much higher.

    '34 Bart of Darkness'

    Should be much higher.

    '33 King-Size Homer'

Not often I agree with my ex arch nemesis, Mr Erg, but I also don't see why people rate this so highly (among the A rated episodes I mean). Should be much lower - around the 60s or 70s mark perhaps.

'32 Secrets of a Successful Marriage Season 5'

    Should be MUCH MUCH higher!!!

    '30 Mother Simpson'

Wow alot of editing with the lists must have happened because this has shot out of nowhere. Classic episode but should also be much lower.

'28 The Last Temptation Of Homer'

    Should be slightly higher.

    '25 Summer of 4 Ft. 2'

I'm going to be hypocritical since I didn't even include it in my top 50 but having rewatched it...this definitely deserves to be much higher.

    '24 Bart on the Road'

    Should be much higher.

    '23 Sideshow Bob Roberts'

The greatness of this episode doesn't seem to be as appreciated on here, perhaps lack of political interest? Doesn't matter. Personally I feel this should be much higher.

    '21 Home Sweet Homediddly-Dum-Doodily'

    Should be slightly lower.

Except for that, great job everybody.

I enjoy King-Sized Homer a lot, but it's probably pretty fairly placed on the list. Summer of 4 ft 2, The Last Temptation of Homer, and particularly Bart of Darkness should all be higher. Still, it shows the great quality of the Top 20 if all these excellent episodes haven't quite made it, I just hope we don't get a nasty surprise with a poorer episode showing up near the top.

Pretty much satisfied with the placements of Homediddly-Dum-Doodily and Sideshow Bob Roberts as well.

would've liked Secrets and Last Temptation higher, but to be honest i'm mostly just pleased they made the grade overall.

And Maggie Makes Three, Homer vs. the Eighteenth Amendment and The Springfield Files are in the Top 20 and not just missing out right guys?

yeah they're in (although I didn't vote for them)
Again I have no complaints about the rankings.
Bart On The Road actually has the same ranking I gave it, which is neat.

Finally!! 40-21 makes perfect sense, all great episodes, I would change the ranking order of some of them, but finally this list is starting to make sense.

Looks like King-Size Homer isn't as high, by which I mean low, as I hoped and some of these are episodes I know receive much love but which I personally don't enjoy that much...Iconoclast and Summer come to mind.

Woow! No Lisa's Date with density or Lisa the Beauty Queen? No Simpson and Delilah or HOMR?
But we have Two Bad Neighbors, Eternal mooshine, Homer the Vigilante or $pringfield

Seriously people what were you thinking?

  30. #120

I wish EMOTSM hadn't made the list either but the other 3 are definitely great episodes. Altho I do agree that it would have been nice to see 1 of the 3 you mentioned, the 4th tho...not a fan of HOMR. My conspiracy is that the list was fixed to include EMOTSM because they wanted 1 Solo Al Jean episode in there, so he wouldn't be embarrassed due to Scully probably having 3-6.
