    The worst cold/flu symptom

Had to take a sick day today, so this is definitely on my mind. What is the worst cold/flu symptom?

For me, I'd say it's a stuffy nose, which is what I currently have now. I can deal with a cough, a fever, a runny nose, the chills, or whatever, but I'm just awful when I'm all congested. It's a weird feeling of technically being able to breathe, but not able to breathe remotely confortably. It has the unfortunate side effect of messing with your sleep too.

    What say you, NHC?

I'm also very sick with a cold. Stuffy noses are the worst, especially because all the blowing leads to injuries around the nostril.

I've got the flu, and having a sore throat sucks. It hurts to talk, breathe, etc.

Ugh, anything with congestion. I find that it affects my hearing as well.

I'm also ill at the minute. Woke up today with a sore throat and blocked nose and it's got progressively worse over the course of the day.

Gonna have to agree with Jims that the stuffy nose is the main annoyance. Basically, going to sleep is probably the best remedy, but the flu makes it a pretty uncomfortable experience. The coughing is pretty difficult to bear as well - I've always coughed a lot worse since I started smoking.

Clearly, this cold is spreading around the board. I apologize if my posts are contagious.

Well I've definitely been ill with something this past week, probably a cold.

For me, the worst symptom was feeling really light-headed earlier this week. It sucked the enjoyment out of everything. Now it's developed into just sneezing, which I can cope with.

    Hope everyone gets better.

Completely agree with the blocked nose guys, I've gone through so much toilet roll the last couple days and now it hurts to even make a facial expression because all the skin around my nose is sore and cracked and it's such a nightmare to get to bed, and I keep getting unable to breath in my throat and coughing up phlegm which just gets worse when laying down, one of the reasons it took me around (and I kid you not) six hours to get to sleep the other night.

Then on top of that there's the cough, and because of my sore throat every time I feel like I'm gonna cough it's just pure dread, it's like being scraped with a bloody knife down the back of your throat and every time I cough I shake my head and my headache gets even worse.

And all this impart to the bloody cold weather and of course snow in the UK right now, seriously it's getting ridiculous, it was snowing in March a couple years back, MARCH!

Well I just woke up a LOT healthier. All that remains is a slightly stuffy nose, but that I can cope with. Get well soon, guys!

Sore throat. The general feeling of drinking tons of stuff just so the feeling could subside for a second; second only to the massive headaches and the disorientation.

Stuffy nose, worst part. Hate waking up at 2 am and having to do all manner of techniques to clear my sinuses just to go back to bed. It takes me like 15-30 minutes to clear my sinuses in such a situation. I end up rubbing a lot of VapoRub across my chest which feels icky.

I hate having a runny nose, especially when I have to lean over a desk or something like that.

Yeah but an even better remedy is to drink lots of fluids. Water especially.

Anyway, I hope all you guys get better soon.
