Red Face (Legal) DVD archiving help.

I have the Season 1 DVD of The Simpsons and am about to get 2-13 in a few weeks. When I attempted to rip the DVD and pick out individual episodes, it would not. The chapters were set in odd places and it wasn't done right, I've tried DVD Dec--, Handbrake, and other apps, none worked.

    Any assistance or ideas?

Rip them to what exactly? It all really depends.

My computer's hard disk. I have more than enough space for all the DVDs once I get them, it's simply a matter of separation. For example, I went through my raw rip of the Season 1 disc, I've only done two so far, and the VOBs start and end in odd places, ie: 15 minutes into Moaning Lisa when logically it should be the start.

What program are you using to rip them? I use a program called HandBrake, it rips them into .mp4/.m4v format (iTunes/Quicktime/VLC), works perfectly.

I use handbrake for all my DVDs as well, just made a purchase on a lot of seasons 1-14 and so now I really hope there is a way to split these by episode. The only thing I found that needed tinkering was the language track.

I've never had any problems using HandBrake, there should be a dropdown menu in the top left hand corner after you've loaded the DVD that shows the individual episodes. I've never had it cut out parts of the episodes before.

Well we'll see. The DVDs don't get here for a few days so I'll re-rip season 1 and see where I went wrong.

I use Freemake Video Converter. It can RIP DVD's to any file format and the worst case scenario is if the image is a bit grainy, but that's hardly ever the case.

Started on Sunday, ended on Tuesday night.. I should've known keeping the original video quality and audio was going to take forever. Use freemake because Handbrake would not cooperate at all. (Thanks Handsome B Wonderful for that tip)

Sure thing. Found out about that program because it was on our school computers.
