The best audio commentary from an episode !

I thought more about this and one of, if not THE best commentary has to be for Dead Putting Society. Everyone there clearly hasn't seen it in forever and the levels of giddiness/laughter they get to over several things but mainly how extreme Homer is throughout the episode are wonderful. I laugh every time I listen to that one.

Very true. It's always nice to hear them laughing at the episode as they obviously tend to have a more in depth knowledge of the humour used on the show and its context. I've suddenly realised the full impact of some gags just through listening to the commentary.

I can't resist once again taking an opportunity to sing the praises of the audio commentary for "Homer at the Bat" - still the audio commentary with the funniest moment I've ever heard on any audio commentary for any TV show or movie.

As far as great audio commentary goes, it doesn't get any better than Mike Reiss making everybody explode with laughter at the revelation that "Steve Sax was the closest I ever came to falling in love with a man" because he was SO sweet and SO handsome.

I'd hoped to hear Scully defending his choices during his reign, but none whatsoever.
The worst experience was Scully and company commenting on Saddlesore Galactica and Groening going all "this wasn't so bad".
Wasn't he the guy expressing his hate about the legendary catfish winking at the camera in The War of the Simpsons during an S2-commentary session? (rhetorical)

I've watched all of the commentaires for seasons 1-9 at least four times and never thought it was anybody but some poor sap from florida. I would just like to see where you guys got this information. Thanks. Also, for soup to nuts behind the scenes info, Another Simpsons Clip Show is the best. I enjoy all of the scully years because they seem to be enjoying themselves whereas a lot of jean episodes it sounds more like fulfilling a duty.

It's him, they even credit him as contest winner in the Season 8 guidebook where they list audio commentary participants.

The weirdest thing about the "Mountain of Madness" commentary was that the other participants sounded legitimately uncomfortable when Thomas (in character) insulted Swartzwelder by saying something like, "well, he has no social life anyway". Really awkward. Nobody laughed, there was just silence until the subject of conversation changed.

I never realized it was Thomas doing a character until I read the DVD booklet, but it's actually kind of obvious at the end when they ask him what hotel FOX got for him to stay in, and he name drops some made-up, crappy-sounding motel and then says security is coming to take him away.

I know I wrote this before, it might have even been in this thread, but he had me totally fooled the first time I heard that commentary too. I actually felt kinda bad for how they treated the guy too so I was happy to learn it was all a joke.

I just saw the audio commentary for "Bart Gets an Elephant" and I loved when they talked about ivory dealer guy being a former president of FOX network.
"Of course, it's a bit of an exaggeration. Fox presidents are not that nice."

I always found it quite the coincidence that in "Radio Bart" it is revealed that Nancy Cartwright and David Silverman met at UCLA and wanted to work on a show together sometime. They never ran into each other during the Tracey Ullman era but it was a chance meeting during the production of a Butterfinger commercial that Nancy was reintroduced to David.

In no particular order, five of my favorites:
5. Deep Space Homer. Mark Kirkland's real-life tale of Homer Simpson in outer space is great, but what really makes this one stand out is Matt Groening's reaction to Homer turning into Richard Nixon. "Oh no, oh no, oh NO!"

HAHAHAHAHA I am so glad I am not the only one who loved this, I rewound it and watched it a few times, and even as I read your comment I am laughing.

For sure though Cartridge Family is the best, just to hear the MAN speak makes it the best, but the episode is amazing as well.

It is a blur for me I have nearly watched every one, I always watch an episode or two when I am going to bed and after my last cycle through my DVD's I decided to go backwards with commentaries on every episode, I am almost done, I am half way through SSN 3.

one of my favourite parts of a commentary is in "monty can't buy me love." when homer is playing pinball in the pub in his diving suit. everyone in the room laughs uproariously. it's hilarious.

With so many to choose from, I don't know if it is the best, and I am new in these here parts, but I rather enjoyed hearing Mark Hamill comment on "Mayored to the Mob" from season 10. Mark Hamill goes on about how much the Simpsons influenced him and indirectly helped him get his gig as the voice of Joker on Batman, the Animated Series. Also, It was really funny when they were all going off about the milking rats for school-lunch scene.

Did I misunderstood something or did Ian Maxtone-Graham actually said in commentary for "The Trouble with Trillions", when the second Government guy suddenly appeared from nowhere by turning around in his chair, that it is his "favorite joke of the show"? I mean, really? THAT is your favorite joke?!

Anyways to answer the thread, I recently heard for the first time the commentary for "Insane Clown Poppy" and it is one of the best one from seasons 11-12. They talk about Stephen King filming a movie in Don Payne (or was it John Frink?)'s childhood home. Joe Mantegna also tells some funny jokes in a somehow menacing voice and it's cool to know how John Frink (or Don Payne?) knew how the devil's advocate joke was a very good one.
