    Gender Confusion around the Forum

Discuss gender confusion regarding certain members here (or even throughout the internet in general if you'd like).

You know those members that don't disclose what exactly they are so the whole thing becomes a guessing game for you. Often if comes down to their avatar and sig to determine what you believe them to be (often not the best representation either). I know gender doesn't matter too much, but I though this would be an interesting topic since I witness it so often.

Have you ever confused people regarding your gender? Which members are you confused about? If you could guess the gender of a member here, what would it be and why?

Cinco threw me for a loop too. I was originally confused about the whole thing when I first met him on the FFF, along with Bella. The whole anime girl avatars don't help matters either.

Conco is a guy as far as I know, along with Bella. But the internet is mysterous so you never really know.

He revels in the fact everyone judges your gender by your avatar... something I hopelessly exhibit all the time.

And yeah cinco is a guy, we asked him many times on another forum I used to frequent

    That is very true.

I find it funny how people often believe that users with male avatars must be male, and vice versa with females because that isn't necessarily true. Girls like guys after all, and guys like girls so opposite gender avatars aren't so weird if you think about it. That's when the whole thing gets confusing for everyone when they look so far into avatars and sigs and whatnot.

It's so hard to believe to me that there are women in this forum cause ALL the women in my life have hated The Simpsons (my mom, friends, girlfriends).
So it's difficult for me to accept that women actually like the simpsons

There are loads of women who like the show. But not many people of any gender are massive fans like us.

There is a girl I'm seeing at the minute (not sure if she likes me in that way - hopefully she does) and even though she enjoys the show I haven't yet told her I'm a Simpsons 'superfan'...

Every forum has this problem, people post and use avatars in a way that I can't determine that it's a man or a woman; Yes, the line is that blurred. It even lead to a meme on the internet that suggested that there were no girls on the internet (because of the assumed majority of internet users being a guy.) and they're mostly right, you can't tell if it's a girl mainly through looking at him/her through the internet... Hell, alot of us on these forms might as well be neutral in gender.

I'm guessing that with time and patience you'll learn the genders of every user (hopefully) and the problem will resolve itself as you become settled in to a community, on the internet; defining gender is basically impossible.

I was mistaken as a female member initially by some and still have a hard time remembering some users like cinco as has been said, those female avatars seem to play tricks on me too.

Wait, you were Matt Groening? That's great! People love when one of the Simpsons creators comes onto the forums, it's like a godsend from heaven for Simspons fans.

There's a guy on another forum i'm active on who always uses attractive women as his avie and his sig and I have no problem in remembering his gender. But simce i've known him and his gender for a while now I guess I see it in a different way then most people would. The whole thing is open to interpretation though.

    lol And thank you!

That is very true. Often i've found unless you blantantly state that you're a girl right away people just generally class you as a guy regardless of what you may post.

In my experience i've always found it funner to leave it open to interpretation though since gender doesn't really matter so much on the internet, also it's interesting to see who guessed it right and who didn't. lol

For awhile when I first joined here, people thought I was male because of my typing style and way of speaking to them. At the time I always used female specific avatars and sigs, had a custom title clearly referring to myself as a girl, and identified as female in my profile, but that still didn't really make it any clearer for them because I didn't explicitly state so and didn't really act stereotypically.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if someone is male or female; I usually stay gender-neutral in regards to what I think of them until they say so. It's easier on certain types of websites though...it's real easy on gaming forums. Most girls can't wait to announce they're a "girl gamer."

^I just joined here and i've always assumed that you were female.

Are the majority of members here male, or is it about 50/50?

I'm a man who discovered the wheel and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn. That's what kind of man I am. You're just a woman with a small brain. With a brain a third the size of us. It's science.

Most active members that identify with a gender are male.

I think you're the only female i've met here (as far as I know). This place is a sausage fest.
