    Musical discussion

Just a generic music discussion thread as we don't seem to have one. Any new albums/tours or whatever that have caught your eye recently?

And what is your taste in music? Mine is generally a mix of unusual, experimental artists maybe with a rock edge (Radiohead, Aphex Twin, Pink Floyd, even Bjork) and more general rock bands with some interesting variations to their music such as Foo Fighters, Muse, REM, Nirvana, Pixies and Sabbath. Along with a bit of metal, the likes of RATM, Trivium and Iron Maiden. Although I'll listen to anything including full-on electronic.

I don't know. I'm mainly Hip-Hop but I want to branch out to other genres of music.

Haven't listened to much music so I don't have much suggestions.

There are some hip hop-style beats in a surprisingly wide array of music... don't know if you've heard any garage/dubstep? Not generally my kinda thing but it seems to be increasingly popular.

I recommend you try artists like Beastie Boys and maybe even Linkin Park, if you haven't already. They have elements of rap and rock in them. If you like what you hear, then try exploring other rock artists. Though if you're looking for rap/rock, you want to try early Linkin Park.

Classic rock, plus folk, plus Neutral Milk Hotel with a bit of cheesy pop on the side

Talking of folk, I've only recently got into Fleet Foxes... Have you heard them? Cascades and Helplessness Blues are absolutely incredible tracks.

they're pretty good but I mostly listen to the 60's folk-rock CDs my mum passed down to me. Can't get enough of Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Dylan & Phil Ochs.

The Beatles are good. My favorite Beatles song is Maxwell's Silver Hammer. I also like jazz, rock, country, and Frank Sinatra.

I love The Beatles. I couldn't name my favourite song without turning it into a Top 20 though.

It's not really a genre, but I mostly listen to upbeat music. I get kind of bored with ballads and slow emotional songs... I generally need something fast-paced with a good beat. I listen to a lot of music while I'm typing away at work, so the up-tempo stuff is good for that kind of thing. I've never really gotten the notion of listening to sad music when you're depressed... Sad stuff always puts me in an even sadder mood. I usually need something fun and bouncy to get me out of a funk.

It's hard to think of specific bands because I kinda bounce around from artist to artist, putting one or two of their songs on my iPod. I do most genres... Pop, rock, hip-hop, funk, whatever. Everything but country music. Specifically, I do listen to a lot of They Might Be Giants, though, who are kings of the silly upbeat music. In the last year, I've also been listening to a ton of video game remixes from OCRemix. It's a very inexpensive way to constantly listen to new stuff at work.

I like mostly old stuff. Love any kind of Rock and hate new pop music and any kind of rap or hip hop. I like when songs actually have meaning to them not when the damn generic words are repeated fifty times over again.

    Musical Discussion you say?!!

    *Orchestra tunes up their instruments*

*A large, uplifting Disney-esque tune begins. A spotlight hits the stage. Friz enters.*

    FRIZ
Ah! Hello Le Jake. What are you up to? Up to series 47 of your spin-off already?

    LE JAKE
Yes, this one is about Bart whacking off to adult Jessica Lovejoy. She's got breasts!

That's nice. MARIE, THE BAGUETTES, HURRY UP.
