Hommer, I really like your choices! Saddlesore Galactica is one of the best of season 11, Lisa the Skeptic is near the top of a strong season 9, The Food Wife I find so far the best of season 23, and while I don't think it's the best Bob episode, The Bob Next Door is an extremely solid offering in the the mix of Bob episodes, which I find to all be above-average except The Italian Bob.

First of all, I want to say that Saddlesore Galactica was the episode that made me realize that the show had gone off the rails and would probably never return to its former greatness. The Bob Next door made me feel kind of woozy and I don't remember laughing once. The Food Wife featured Homer *NOT* wanting to try new foods. That is wrong on so many levels...

But...

Even though I don't like these episodes, other people should be allowed to like them. If they want to express their opinions, they should have that right. Their votes should count exactly like everyone else's.

My list will probably contain a couple that are not exactly universally loved, but I certainly want them to be counted. People are all different and that's a good thing.

Anyway, I hope my list helps to average out the final results of the top 50 episodes well. Don't just put down the 50 worst episodes as your best 50 episodes purely for the sake of it or to "balance things out" because it's all about finding the best of the best and you're just going to spoil the outcome for no justifiable reason and besides you can't seriously believe in that list, put down your own favourite and what you really believe is the 50 best...

So you genuinely believe in that list? You really believe that the 50 best Simpsons episodes of all time should include only 2 from the first 9 seasons and them both being clip show ones? It's also a coincidence that it exactly matches the bottom 50 Simpsons episodes list? I just find that hard to believe and would warn you not to spoil the list for no good reason.

p.s I do have alot of disagreements with the other lists but only with a maximum of 4 placings, unlike yours in which I disagree with 100% and 50/50 of it.

I think we should get one thing out of the way - my original top 50 wasn't actually my favourite 50 episodes, although I think that many of them are massively and irrationally underrated. I put that up to spice things up a bit since otherwise everyone just sticks pretty much to the same pool of about 100 episodes.
Also, in response to your question, I would just say that Sideshow Bob Roberts is Season 6. And yes, I have seen the 'classic' seasons, although I don't like seasons 1 and 2 for the most part, and I'm not hugely keen on season 3. Obviously, as with most people, seasons 4-9 contain many episodes that I love.
Being fairly new to no homers, I have been pretty amazed by the amount of hate for seasons past about 12, and to me it seems unreasonable. I just don't see the massive quality gap that everyone else apparently sees between modern episodes and those of the 90s. And that means that when I say that I really enjoy watching The Italian Bob and Kill Gill it seems as though I'm pretty much alone, and I just don't know why.
So, by way of a simple answer to your question: yes, I have.

Fair enough. Sideshow Bob Roberts is definitely one of my favorite and is in consideration. I like Kill Gill and The Italian Bob as well, though neither will be in top 50 list. I don't hate the seasons past 9, but the gem to dud ratio is decidedly lower in the later years. I sometimes wonder how I would feel if I was younger and was introduced to the show at around season 10. I probably would have liked it a lot more than I do now and the classic seasons that enjoyed immensely when they were new and radically different than anything on TV at the time would probably have a slightly stodgier feel to them.

There's definitely a gap, but I think it's exaggerated here. I mean, I'm watching a lot of "post-classic" episodes and they've mostly been in the "C"-range for me, which is kind of middle-of-the-road, either slightly liking or disliking it.

Your list will be counted regardless, but I sincerely hope you edit your top 50 to make them your actual top 50 as that is the point of this thread. I can sympathize with trying to spice things up but I don't really think it is needed. It is true that most people here will pick solely from the first 8 or so years, but others won't. I have tried doing my top 50 already but continually get stuck. As it is right now I have around 15 episodes in my list from later seasons. Just give your legitimate best episodes and wait for the results, at least that's what I'd hope you'll do.
