    1000 Ways to Die

Does anyone here watch this? It's on Spike TV. Each episode shows different real-life deaths, mostly resulting from the people in the programming acting stupid. Some of it is pretty gross stuff, but it is decent, I think. It's pretty cheesy but I discovered it a while ago (honestly, the name was the thing that made me interested) and watch it every week. It's usually on Monday or Sunday afternoons/nights.

    Has anyone here seen it?

Me! I used to be obsessed with the show, and I watched every single episode on the internet. However, I then learned that they MAJORLY dramatize the segments to make you glad that the person dies. For example, a case where a guy had a bomb put around his neck by some people, the show changed to "but he was actually working ALONE." Another time, when there was a 6-year-old boy who was killed by an oxygen tank when it was pulled into the MRI machine, they changed it to a couple of criminals in the hospital who got seduced by a nurse and pushed the oxygen tank into them. I'll still watch the show, but I can't get the same enjoyment out of it anymore.

it doesn't really surprise me that they'd do that. i mean, they want to entertain the audience, and it's more entertaining to watch two criminals die then a little 6 year old kid. like i said, it's cheesy and yea, they probably over-dramatize a lot of it, but damn it i still think it's pretty enjoyable

Yeah, I agree. I still record the episodes. I just haven't thought of watching them.

for some reason the more recent episodes don't have that spark the older ones did, at least not for me (theyre still pretty entertaining though). you should consider watching 'em sometime

I've seen it before but never gave it my full attention. If I ever watched it it was always because nothing better was on and I was just flipping the channels...

I've known about this show for about a year now, but I also just recently watched it late one night on SpikeTV earlier this month. Some of that shit is pretty crazy, but some of it I can find believable, like for example one I saw where two wrestlers got wasted trashing a hotel room with two ladies and they ran their heads into a wall, the one on the right survived and went through the wall, but the guy on the left hit like a cylinder plank or something so the blunt force caused a blood clot to suffocate his brain of oxygen killing him instantly.
Jimbo Jones: [about Homer] I hear that guy's ass has it's own congressman!
Bart Simpson: I wash myself with a rag on a stick.
Homer Simpson: [takes cap out of dryer and puts it on his head] Mmmmm... I CAN feel three types of softness.
Lisa Simpson: [from upstairs] Dad, what are you doing down there?
Homer Simpson: Washing my fat guy's hat honey!

I had a sense that some of those episodes were...fabricated. I also agree it's entertaining and I do occasionally watch it, but some of those stories seemed way too set up and elaborate when a death probably just...happened.

Meh. These types of shows are not for me (reality/video clip/variety shows targeted blatantly towards the "edgy, muscular, awesome guy" factor.), I agree with Raspberry that I would watch it if there was nothing on.

i think a main reason i like watching it is because it's one of the only shows that my mom watches that I like. We both enjoy it. My mom watches a lot of crime shows like NCIS, or shows like Two and a Half Men, that I just can't get into, and I watch shows she doesn't get into. The only other shows we watch on a daily basis are Family Guy and sometimes The Simpsons, and I mean, she doesn't like those shows much. It gets boring watching shows with just yourself, so I like that we have this in common.

There are times when I honestly don't know if the death I just saw is 'real', but it's still a helluva fun show to watch. I wish more people watched it, to at least give it a chance.

    Totally agree.

Watching shows my sister and I both like, is an absolute riot. Just wish we had more TV in common.

Agreed, though I haven't had many people to share the viewing experience with. Maybe some shows are meant to be watched in the company of people...

All I remember from the five minutes I watched of 1000 Ways to Die was something about a roadie dying because he huffed some weird ass, like, fermented shit in a jar or something like that. Very odd. I'm not a fan, but my brother watched it a lot for a while.

I watched it off and on a few years back, and really the only segment that stuck with me is the one with the chick who dies while masturbating with a carrot fantasizing about the bag boy she met at the supermarket earlier that day. Yeah, interesting thing to take away from the show.
