Just caught this episode tonight for the first time and I was kinda surprised that I liked it. The second and third acts were solidly acted and funny. There was something about Homer golfing the fish into the fish tank that had me cracking up. What brings this episode down for me is the first act lead in (Absolut-ly lousy) and the rafting ending. I'm a little upset that this episode had to end with that. The show often creates situations of conflict and danger for no reason, forcing someone to have to save someone else. I think with a different ending I would grade this episode higher since I laughed quite a bit.

One observation that I thought was subtle is that Bart learned how to read better once Homer became less available. Perhaps that could have been played up a bit more. Anyway, let's go with B-/C+.

I watched "Them Robot" on demand since I don't have the enthusiasm to catch these episodes when they air anymore, let alone to write reviews. The next episode listed was untitled and I figured it was the next new episode I had yet to see. It took me 7 minutes in before I realized I've seen it before. That's how forgettable this one, along with many others are with these recent seasons.

Having recently marathon-ed through Mad Men, I rewatched this episode, maybe in hope it would get better.

It didn't. I didn't even manage to finish the episode. D+ remains my grade.

+ This scene was the stronger laugh of my night

+ I loved the homer's pessimism to life in this chapter, every homer line in the second and third was good
+ I liked the character of John Slattery

BAD
-The sub-plot went anywhere, Nothing was really funny and the scene with the bullies were too long
- The last act was really weak
- Mr Burns was son unfunny and I felt him more out of character as usually

FINAL THOUGHS
* I haven't seen mad men so I maybe miss one or two references
* am I the only who actually thought Marge was going to cheat homer?
