The only way I'd stop purchasing the seasons is if Netflix were to start putting the seasons on there. Until then, I'll keep purchasing! I mean, without the seasons, how am I going to watch the show?

Well yeah, but the websites I try to watch the show on are awful and don't work...and are usually flooded with ads. Besides, I'm hoping Netflix gets the show because I'm far too lazy to walk into the other room and grab the seasons.
I miss Megavideo!
I do. Until I get season 1 and 3 on DVD, this is where I'm watching themDoes anyone use Smotri?
I'll probably end up having them all at some point. At the moment I have seasons 3, 4, 5, 7, 10 & 11.
EDIT: Might as well mention I have the movie.
Just be thankful

at this point, i'm done. i haven't had any interest to get s14, even though i see it constantly and it's slightly tempting.
i'll probably get 14 and 15, when it's eventually out, together. i do want more seasons then the first 13, since i do still like the show more than most, but at this point in time i'm happy with my collection.

I've reconsidered rebuying the first 10 seasons, provided they were remastered for Blu Ray. I've seen season 13 and 14 on BR and they're as clear as the HD episodes, but thankfully lack the sterile, drawn in photoshop look.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.
Okay, I plan on collecting them all eventually, but for now.
I own season 6,7 and 8
I plan on nabbing 3,4,5,9 and maybe 10. and I will grab 1 and 2 last, then over time the other 15 or so seasons will be bought used (tbh i buy alot of my shows used.) because I will be damned if I pay 50 bucks for season 20

I stopped at Season 9 but I bought Season 13 since it was at a low price and I wanted to be able to hear a different showrunner before Al Jean's long run. I might buy Season 15 at a lower price because it's my favorite post-classic season but that's about it.
I will collect all the seasons seasons, granted on one condition, I'm still alive when they finally come out. Exaggerating of course, but We've been collecting since 2001, and in 11 years only 14 seasons have been released! Ridiculous! I love the Simpsons obviously, but come on, release the damn things, before the formats become super blu-ray and or quasi bad ass ray or whatever. There are still some good moments in latter seasons that warrant ownership. There are still jokes in later seasons that make me glad that they are still making the show. But when will it stop? Who knows?
Let me just fire up the deLorean so I can go buy the Complete Collection in twenty years when it comes out. In all serious though if they were to release a complete collection do you think they'd perhaps split it into volumes of say 5-10 seasons each or just go for the whole thing, because that would be quite an expensive set, although something I probably would buy (on Blu-ray) seeing as my Seasons 1-6 DVD's are pretty much destroyed from extreme overwatching.
Whole thing would be epic.
"I'd like to buy the complete Simpsons collection!"
"That will be 2400 dollars!"

If the show was 25 seasons, they could have a massive, 70 disc blu ray collection that'd be about $500, but I'd only go for that if they remastered the first 10 seasons, otherwise, I'd only buy the new seasons (used) on blu ray and just take care of the first 10. I refuse to buy Seasons 11 and 12 outside of a 'special' complete series set.
That's exactly something I would be interested, which is why I'm debating whether or not to stop buying the Blu-rays as they come out (which I've done with 13, 14 and 20) and just wait for the Complete Blu-ray collection, perhaps buying the used DVD's to tide me over. My DVD's of the earlier seasons look atrocious on my large TV's, and a HD remaster is much needed, provided they go back to the original source material and remaster it from their, you know from the cels, not just upscaling the SD source. Then again, even if it were remastered, animation is pretty much perfect for upscaling, granted they get the lines sharper, the colours better and no compression artefacts like the banding, or the glimmer on many of the lines, especially on the earlier DVDs. With the 25 seasons, and the movie presumably, it would probably come to about 75 or 76 discs.
Law and Order The Complete Series recently came out on DVD at about $450, with 104 discs, I think we'd be paying somewhere in that region seeing as it would be Blu-ray, so like you said $500. If I could sell some of my older DVD's and Blu-ray's I'd be happy to shell out for a collection that's completely in uniform packaging, that's not bloody cardboard, in nice HD etc etc. Although at this rate it wont be out until about Christmas 2022.
Anyway, if I can somehow not buy a Simpsons DVD for ten years until the Complete Collection then I guess 14 was my last purchase!
I would never pay anywhere near 100 dollars for anything Simpsons related anyways.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??
Get off this site.
Okay.

PROFIT!

There haven't been that many things you could get for over $100. Simpsons World is one of the only generally available item that approached it (unless someone actually paid close to list price). Hmm. A Simpsons fountain pen was over $100. OK, not including items like cels, signed items, the Simpsons XBOX game system (not generally available), subscription items (not a single item), my soul, my marriage (too intangible) what has cost more than $100?
TMT-thread-R: Not buy every DVD set? Is such a thing possible? Well, maybe not every set from every country. Yet.
ArchiveGuy "now about my Chinese DVD sets..."
I was going to only buy the DVDs up to season 9, until I realized that there were still plenty of episodes that I liked in the other seasons. I don't rush out to buy them now though. I either ask for the new box sets for Christmas if I don't know what I want, or wait until they go on sale for less than $20 (I bought s11 and s12 for $15 each at a post-Christmas sale at Best Buy). So now I have seasons 1-14 and the movie, but not season 20 (Was that released by FOX with no input from The Simpsons crew? There's no commentaries or anything...)
My season 1-9 dvds are all very scratched though, and I will replace them if they become unplayable. I probably won't do that for the others. I'd even waste my money on Blu-Ray for seasons 1-9 if they existed, and if I actually had a Blu-Ray player.
