Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.
Laughed more at that then the episode :P The bear randomly attacking Homer and CBG's involvement actually made me lolzaTaiwanese animated news item about the taiwanese animated news item

Better late than never I suppose.
I liked this episode, and yet I can't help but have a hint of disappointment. This episode made me laugh a lot, the CGI reenactment was hilarious, the video of Homer as a hostage, the auto-tune victim, the costumed ice skaters, I even liked the Top Chef sequence, as unnecessary as it was. There was alot to laugh at here, and the story wasn't half bad (though there was probably one too many flashbacks). And then there was Keifer Sutherland, who wasn't showing a lot of range, but still shows that he has the chops for voice-acting by turning in a good performance. It's his third time on the show, and yeah he's kind of just playing a moodier Jack Bauer, but I liked the character.
The problem was that as much as I laughed at this episode, there were just as many moments that the jokes just went too long. Wayne's training flashback went from funny to laborious, Homer's Terminator daydream went on too long, and ending the episode on the Kim Jong Il musical? Poor choice. Way too long, not nearly as funny as the writers thought it was, and it really took away from what could have been a subtle and funny ending of working at the DMV. The pacing felt a little weird at times also, before the act break we have Wayne stopping Snake at a hold-up, we come back to a scene with Wayne eating dinner with the family and everybody hastily trying to explain why he's there. Homer getting kidnapped really should have happened earlier too, not enough time to establish any dread for Homer's predicament, and it gets resolved too quickly. I get the feeling they would have had much more time to fix the story problem if they had just made the jokes tighter.
In the end I guess I'm giving it a 3/5. The laughs almost push it up further though, which makes it a shame that the timing on some of the gags were as bad as they were, this had enough going for it to be a much better episode.
And then there's the Ned and Edna stuff. The first gag was funny, and Edna winking at the camera in bed was subtle, and while I hear what many are saying that they didn't need the scene after the episode was over, I kind of liked how the writers took the time to address and thank the fans for participating. So I guess they are going through with it. I'm okay with that.
When I grow up I'm going to Bovine University
How was Edna winking at the camera subtle? If she didn't wink, would the audience automatically assume they are in the same bed at gun-point or something?
.
3.5
I liked it. Ok, it's not the best episode ever, but I think it was a bit better than "Elementary School Musical". Oh, and I'm glad Ned and Edna are still together ^_^
It was an okay episode. It was better than ''Elementary School Musical'' and I'm glad Nedna got together as I votec ''Pro-Nedna''
3/5

Favourite Season - Season 4
Before seeing this episode, I expected something a bit better than what I was watching this episode of the season with 23 three excellent promotional videos that we had not seen last week. However, I would still say that I most enjoyed the episode when I saw it tonight when I last night because a lot of gags that I missed the first viewing.
The Falcon and the set of an episode Ohman quite original and I'll give him some points still to this point because it deserves if we compare it to many episode of the season prior. First, I say this because we have never seen a story like this except maybe when Patty and Selma kidnap Homer in the episode wedding disaster of the season but it is not 20 at all the same context as in this episode. Moreover, it is a very good idea of scenario and it is really excellent. The only problem might be that he may not have been exploited in the best scenario that could have been but I'll talk when I talk about the scenario of this episode.
For the scenario, I must say it is still ok but still has several weak points in my opinion. First, the first act is really good and the best of the episode. I believe that if the episode would have been like that every 20 minutes, I would have given up a score of 16/20. However, from the second act, the visions of Wayne begins and I did not really like because of their length and above it was not great. I speak especially of that first day, I found endless and it was so long, she did not even laugh. The third act improves the episode but it is still quite low in my opinion. The idea to involve the Ukrainians in this episode was a great idea but I must say I n, I too liked how Wayne kills the leader of the Ukrainians came to Springfield because it is really too stupid for me and I think that the writers could have beat this idea.
For gags, with the second time I saw the episode, I found a lot of gags that I had not seen the first time. So I'll make a list of jokes as usual but in my different this time. That the joke that I see in this episode :
Homer singing-entering the workplace.
Carl-giving medals to Snake in Moe's bar.
Snake with is : Thanks for the upgrade Hahah
-Moe and his egg.
Wayne, who blew up the tank by putting his hand into the barrel.
Ned, who tells Homer that there is a big change in his life (we believe it would be about Edna) but now he buys about orange juice with pulp
The Chinese-Gaming.
-The poster "Do not Do That" with a picture of a nuclear explosion under
Bart to the cafeteria Menasse bullies Jimbo and the dish of potatoes in your ears not to hear what Bart is going to say and be killed and Doris Chalmers said that so that students eat potato that comes out of their ears .
-Homer and the whole discussion that leads right to capture and torture when he could easily avoid getting caught.
-The coupon for a pair of scissors in the paper while it takes scissors to cut
Homer, who returns to the ice water.
Finally, I decided to give this episode a rating of 10/20 for all the reasons I mentioned in my review.
2,5/5
Way too much time wasted on Wayne's flashbacks (they were really boring as hell ---> they could have been much shorter). I didn't like the youtube video and I didn't like the Kim Jong song. There weren't very many jokes (and I don't think I even laughed once out loud throughout the entire episode). 2/5
wayne is pretty badass
but why is barney a boozehound in this episode?
the bar fight scene..barney looks uber drunk
I love ponies
i have no interest in anything but my interests
Why wouldn't Barney be drunk? He's had relapses since Season 14's "I'm Spelling as Fast as I can."
Al Jean undid all the stuff josh and bill and scully did. I think he said in an interview that he'd bring Maude back if he could.

Pros:
1) I liked the "Walking on the Moon" parody. It went on a bit long, but it was still fun.
2) Kiefer Sutherland has done a good job on every episode he's been on.
3) I thought the Wayne character was well done. Perfect parody of Bauer's emotional side.
4) I thought the Taiwanese animation was done well.
5) My favorite line: "Off with his job!"
Cons:
1) Nedna. I wasn't a big fan of this plot twist, but if you're going to commit to it, commit to it. Having the biggest cliffhanger since "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" turn into just a throwaway sequence in the last minute or so (other than the lame references to it scattered in the show) was stupid. The episode should've been about that. They could've cut out all the Nedna references from this episode, and made it the second episode of the season.
2) Snake holding up the bar wasn't believable. Moe always has his shotgun at the ready. He wouldn't have had to load it.
3) Wayne's talking in his sleep was funny when Marge & Homer were overhearing it, but it was over the top when the whole town heard it.
Overalll, though, very good stuff. 3.5/5 stars.
Nedna isn't a big mystery thriller like Who Shot Mr. Burns, so there's really no need for an episode to center around them right off the bat. Just because it's the second season finale cliffhanger doesn't mean it's the BIGGEST CLIFFHANGER since. They could have made those scenes subtle though instead of breaking away from the show to explain the results.

I just thought that with a builduip like that, the Nedna thing needed more. Not because it would be a "thriller", but because the storyline (in my mind) demanded some explanation. The season finale, going through Edna's history in comparison to Ned's conservative ways, laid out a pretty good case for them not to get together, and I just felt as though the relationship needed more exposition rather than just, "Well you voted, so that's how it's going to be."
In the grand scheme of the episode, I guess this isn't all that important. But as far the flashback scenes went, the was one where the guy was being attacked by, it looked like baseball players wearing makeup. Does anybody know if that's a parody of something specific? Just curious if anybody knows. It doesn't seem likely that a detail like that would be completely random

2/5 and whoever rated it 5/5 is insane.

I didn't like the references to drunk driving done by Homer. Also think that Wayne borrowed heavily from Skinner in the form of flashbacks. The North Korea + Ned & Edna things in the end were BAD. But a-ok episode.

"you know i'm right" equals "deep thinking"?![]()
It was pretty funny. I liked Sutherland in it but as a lot of you have mentioned it did seem a little too familiar. Nedna thing was a bit silly too. 3/5.
Blegh. This episode was terrible. I didn't laugh at anything and I didn't like the Wayne character. The plot seems a little overdone, and the characters all felt a little recycled. Usually I like the characters. Not the case for this episode.

I'm a little surprised they didn't replace it with another episode on 1/1 because of Kim Jong-Il's death.
(Does this mean that North Korean Jam is going to improve?)
This episode was a mix of good and bad. On the one hand, it did have some good jokes and I kind of liked that Homer finally got his fist bump at the end. On the other hand, there were long stretches of unfunniness, and the Nedna thing at the end was really unnecessary. Overall, a 3/5 because the good slightly outweighed the bad.
