hmmm hmmm hmmm
Hahaha, yeah, that Lars reference really does kind of get your hopes up for the rest of the episode. It's kind of mean (in a way) to put the wondrous time travel shenanigans of Bender's Big Score in our heads, and then follow it up with a story about the founding fathers and a magic opal.
I don't think the writers necessarily meant to suggest anything like that in the Lars reference, but at the same time, I don't think they considered the audience would start comparing the episodes subconsciously. That kind of adds to the disappointment.

Hired Goon
i thought it was pretty good. not a lot of laugh out loud moments but i liked the zany story and all the scenes of british new new york, lots of great background jokes there. i liked the convenient abrupt ending too, i think they'd gotten all the fun out of it that they could've by that point. some of the stuff went over my head though, i have a reasonable knowledge of u.s. presidents and their personalities, even john tyler, but i know nothing of the revolutionary war and didn't know about the lantern thing. a step up from last week but it hasn't hit the highs of the first few episodes.

STOP TALKING!
Lars ref was just a wink at the audience joke that helped explain why Fry got a job at the head museum so easily. Clever, yes.
But yeah it did inadvertently lead to comparison, and against BBS, this episode fails immensely at delivering a satisfying time travel story. Whereas that one was clever and intricate, I've seen smarter usage of the concept on Saturday morning cartoons than "All the Presidents' Heads".

Maybe it's because I live in the UK but I got some big laughs out of the English version of the future. Granted as far as time travel episodes of Futurama go, they're a lot more complex and emotional. But this was just some silly fun, and I liked it.
Fave bits were:
"WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT YOU BRITISH BASTARDS!?"
Bravely smothering Washington with his wig
"Say, how is it that we've got socialised medicine, but me teeth still look like this?"
"Now I'm married to one of the spice girls....don't rightly know which one"
The Franklinator

RIP Futurama.
I agree with Matt Groening... the characterizations are really off badly in this one, for an example why the f is Leela suddenly a thief now for no reason.
Even Prof. Fransworth acts idiotic and bi-polar in this one b/c of his family tree.
The animation is off in places (why/how does that tray magically and instantly fit into her purse).
Also it was plain stupid to just put in random peoples heads into the hall of presidents heads..
And why did drinking head-jar juice previously in the series cause nothing to happen... but now you time travel... that's just a big, bad, and obvious gaffe to the nerdy fans.
This whole thing was just lazy and they are using time travel to much now.
Simply one of the all time worst episodes ever.
