some critics say this doesn't 'feel' like a Pixar film. should i be worried about that?

If it means they're taking an artistic risk, then that's good. If it means it's too similar to other stories or is lacking overall polish, then that's very worrying.
It looks to me like something Dreamworks would produce but then How to Train Your Dragon was great.

I'm just excited to see a Pixar film, even if it might not 'feel' like one, it is and it'll have the trademarks every pixar film has, hopefully.
My big issue with this is the story it just looks so cliche and uninteresting. The animation looks stellar as always.

seeing this in a couple hours![]()

Just saw it: I thought it was good...not great like the 'Toy Story' trilogy, but entertaining enough for me.
At first I thought, "Oh, gawd...another Disney princess who's so-called 'feisty' and rebels against her parent/parents' wishes and wants to do what she wants to do...at least, I was sort of wrong: I like the interaction between Merida and her mother, particularly when the mother got turned into a bear.
The triplets nearly stole the show...would have like to see more of them.

the triplets had so many great scenes, easily my favorite comedic parts revolved around them.
not up to the level of Pixar's 'best' films, but it was certainly enjoyable and I'd see it again. 4/5

this movie has potential to be the worst pixar opening weekend, which disappoints me
yeah that would suck; bit im still not going

if you're not a part of the solution you're a part of the problem

i was just going off wikipedia
there weren't many people in my theater. and i saw it friday afternoon

it was a good theater experience.
pretty sure the projected 70+ mil at the moment is not the worst.
anyways, this was kinda disappointing. it felt as if the directors wanted to make a traditional disney flick, but weirdly at the same time, didn't want to put major effort into it. there were direct steals from beauty and the beast, and of course the actual plot feels derivative of brother bear.
some of the gags and traits were done so half-heartedly, such as the witch and her talking crow, who appear all of maybe five minutes in the film. (yes I stayed through the credits, I don't think the payoff was worth it) the whole legend of the bear spell was woefully underwritten... same with merida and elinor's journey. the movie felt too short, always as if there was something missing. triplets were good, although I was wishing they would do more with them as bears instead of a setup towards a joke, leading to what apparently is pixar's first cleavage gag (???) billy connolly as the dad, and all of the fellow clan heads easily were the best part, but you can tell that mark andrews was sent in primarily to boost their screen presence for the lols
before cars 2, I always considered bugs' life to be pixar's worst effort, although that was more attributed to growing pains. unfortunately, I think bugs' life rises a notch up again. coincidentally I watched it the night prior and noticed even in its sloppy pacing, just how breakneck and full of twists the climax is. one minute it goes this way, the next it goes another and feels rather harrowing and fun. brave was pretty damn simple, and maybe that's just because the fairy tale-esque motif lends itself to simplicity... but I was hoping for better storytelling from y'know, pixar. this just felt really safe. not at all bad, but safe.
god two mediocre films in a row and now they're doing a prequel to my favorite. damn.

like i said, potential to be the worst.
and like i also said, i got that off wikipedia.
When I saw it Friday, the seats were pretty full.
One thing I forgot to mention: STAY AFTER THE CREDITS: something happens to the guy the triplets cut his moustache off at the end.
This was really good, but not one of Pixar's best. It's not a typical Disney "princess movie" where the princess meats a prince and they live happily ever after. There's a lot more to it.
I'd rank the Pixar movies like this:
Toy Story (All of them, IDK which one is best) > Up > WALL-E > The Incredibles > Finding Nemo > Monster's Inc. > Ratatouille > Brave > A Bug's Life > Cars > Cars 2
Season 24: Moonshine River: C | Treehouse of Horror XXIII: B- | Adventures in Baby-Getting: B+ | Gone Abie Gone: C+ | Penny-Wiseguys: D+ | A Tree Grows in Springfield: C- | The Day the Earth Stood Cool: B+ | To Cur With Love: B+ | Homer Goes to Prep School: C | A Test Before Trying: B- | The Changing of the Guardian: C+ | Love is a Many-Splintered Thing: C | Hardly Kirk-ing: B- | Gorgeous Grampa: B+ | Black-Eyed, Please: B- | Dark Knight Court: B- | What Animated Women Want: C | Pulpit Friction: B- | Whiskey Business: C | The Fabulous Faker Boy: C | The Saga of Carl: B- | Dangers on a Train: B+
My Season Rankings: 4, 7, 5, 6, 8, 3, 2, 9, 1, 15, 14, 16, 10, 13, 21, 20, 19, 17, 24, 23, 22, 12, 18, 11

wikipedia (And me) were wrong. Brave was number one at the box office.
