Joel H. Cohen implied in one of the season 13 commentaries that he wouldn't be around much longer. Case in point, he was absent from season 14 commentaries.

Now, I have it confirmed. Much like Matt Warburton's departure to Community, Joel Cohen left the show to develop a Canadian animated series called Crash Canyon. I'm not Canadian, so I can't speculate as to how this particular show is doing.

That's pretty old news, it was covered here months ago before its premiere. Tim Long writes for it as well, but he's still on staff at the Simpsons aswell. It's a pretty lame show, I wonder why MTV picked it up for international distribution
500 episodes, about 200 good ones.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
The episode "Whacking Day'' curiously aired the same day as Seinfeld's "The Contest'', which deals with a different kind of whacking.

More of the usual shit from Jean here. They're so excited to have Lady Gaga on the show. Isn't it exciting?

Maggie! She gets made over and makes an appearance as "Baby GooGoo."
    When is death coming?

And the Bart Gets a Girlfriend x 6 episode will be the Season 24 premiere:

Zooey Deschanel will be back for the next season premiere in September. She's reprising her role as Mary, Cletus's daughter. In the episode, she goes to the city, and we give her an Audrey Hepburn/Breakfast at Tiffany's makeover.

Huh, I thought the Steve Carrel episode was gonna be Season 24's premiere. Oh well the Bart plots sounds more appealing to me honestly...

Those comments on that MTV interview are hilarious and super dumb: "I like it,sooooooooo amazing!", "awesome
can't wait for the episode! Saw a bunch of previews, it's pretty funny XD"

Why are Lady Haha fans so dumb? It's sad to see people like that exist in this universe.

What did you expect? They're Gaga fans on a MTV site.

Yeah, the only thing dumber is Justin Beaver fans. Seriously, if they bring Justin Bieber on the show I'm going to stop watching it completely. And if this episode's bad enough, it'll be the same result.

They probably won't have enough money for that. The production costs for the next two (remaining?) seasons have been cut so Gaga is hopefully the last expensive celebrity they'll have.

Not necessarily. Maybe even Justin Beaver will be willing to take a paycut just for the status of guest starring. Anyway, it would be the smallest paycheck he will be getting which still means he would be getting overpaid.

I'm pretty sure there were people who saw Michael Jackson fans the exact same way before Stark Raving Dad premiered, back in 1991.

Keep that in mind when you go on these elitist musical rants.

Like it or not, Bieber and Gaga are comercially successful, and it makes perfect sense to use them in a show like The Simpsons.

MJ was a much more established act for over 10 years (plus if you count his time with the Jackson 5) so his appearence was far less gratuitous, plus he was NOT PLAYING MICHEAL JACKSON, just a mental patient who thought he was MJ. That was far more clever than any of the crap we've seen in the Gaga promos.

I think you should keep your smug, condescending tone in check when you make snide comments like this. At least when the show did guests before Scully it wasn't a cock suck of shameless guest peddling that was determined by the guests net worth (besides the shitty Beyond Blunderdome) or flash in the pan sensationalism.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

While Rango is right about Michael Jackson being more established and playing a more clever role I think most people are being a little extremist. I think it's ok to have Lady Gaga in the show, but yes, a whole episode devoted to her seems to be a bit much. Justin Bieber, on the other hand, would only be acceptable in a very clever context or if they mocked him in a very sarcastic way. Anyway, I don't think the episode is going to be necessarily worst of the season.
    My Simpsons homage!

The audience of Lisa Goes Gaga is 4,07 millions of viewers.

That was really stupid to already lock the thread of the 23rd season...

Actually, it was 4.79 million. According to tvbythenumbers, it was also up two-tenths of a point in the Nielsen 18-49 from last week.

The saddest/vomit-inducingest thing for me is The D'oh-cial Network, somehow worse than this, had the highest ratings of the season....thanks to football of course.

Gaga's little monsters were watching the Billboard Music Awards since that was something last nights episode was competing against.

I have calculated the average rating for this season. It's 6.14 million viewers per episode, 1.14 million down from previous season.
