I love that 5 seconds! GREATEST COUCH GAG EVER!!!!![]()
I guess they're trying to get some attention from the animation community before the episode airs this time around. Last time noone knew about the John K couch gag until after, and a lot of attention was given to it online. Plympton is a big name in the animation community, which are people who don't regularly watch the Simpsons (anymore). They might tune in in support of Bill, but I doubt it will improve numbers much: the thing will be online tomorrow anyway.
500 episodes, about 200 good ones.

The episode "Whacking Day'' curiously aired the same day as Seinfeld's "The Contest'', which deals with a different kind of whacking.
"Beware My Cheating Bart" was watched by 4,864 M.

Could be a good episode, the guest star, and how much time on screen he's given, will likely be key.
This meens that 4 of the 5 lowest watched episodes are from this season.

As a show like the Simpsons goes on it really isn't surprising that the newer episodes are watched by fewer, for several reasons. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bottom 5 watched all come from Seasons 24 or 25 in a few years. Ratings are really not all that meaningful for this show's existence, at least not at this point.

You guys act as if ratings have anything to do with quality.
In an era where EVERY network show is showing declining ratings and the awfulness of The Big Bang Theory is #1.
They could show classic era-calibre programming every week and it would still get the same ratings.
The only programming showing positive ratings movement right now on networks is sports. That's it.
Mainly because people want to watch sports live when it happens instead of being content to download it off a site or Netflix it later.
Anyway, was the most watched in the night of Fox ...
Bob's Burger - 3,78M
The Cleveland show - 4,33M
I can't help but think you guys keep talking about the ratings because you're wondering how low they will get before FOX pulls the plug.
Just be thankful
That's about right. The ratings are kind of a moot point given that The Simpsons benefits from numerous revenue streams.
Merchandising, licensing, ad rates they're able to command based on the show's legacy vs. other shows delivering similar ratings performance, highly lucrative syndication deals, DVD sales, digital distribution... there are lots of things that the show's prolonged life cycle benefit from.
It's not like FOX has a bounty of untapped ideas in the tank to take the show's place.

Perhaps a follow up episode? Seems she may become more of a legitimate recurring character. Either that or it was an obvious mistake referring to the episode which just aired...
The source for that was somewhat vague on an airdates, Michael Price lumped it in with stuff confirmed for Season 24 like the Halloween and Portlandia episodes, so I guess I just assumed it was another episode for next season. In retrospect Price mentioning they just saw a "rough cut" of it should've been a dead giveaway that it would be this season. My bad everyone
Noted, thanks
The episode title MOONSHINE RIVER is in the US copyright database
