The design of the robots is surprisingly appealing to me. They look cute and functional. I'm sort of anticipating this episode, but I'm sick of the pre-release stuff giving away the entire plot.

Yeah, the whole plot summary is ridiculous. But in all fairness, we never need to expect anything revolutionary from The Simpsons. I can't think of the last time status quo was tampered with before "Nedna" (I don't count killing Fat Tony or the cat and replacing it with an identical one). Even some extended storylines would be decent, where a character gets a job for half a season or some relationship issues occur but get fixed somehow. But it would probably fuck with Fox in that they would be expected to air all those episodes in production order.

Looks like some wacky, silly stuff. Why would Springfield become dismal and humorless because of robots working in the plant? Does it need to end in a robo rampage?

I know Lisa's Wedding is set in 2010 and it's 2012 now, but it's funny how an episode depicting the future seemingly handles the "everyone but Homer is replaced by robots at SNPP" angle more realistically than this regular episode
500 episodes, about 200 good ones.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
The episode "Whacking Day'' curiously aired the same day as Seinfeld's "The Contest'', which deals with a different kind of whacking.

As much as I love the show, and how it has gained a degree of fame due to it's longetivity, every time I check this thread to see the upcoming episodes, it feels deeply embarrassing. It's like they're trying to turn every episode into a cinematic, madcap adventure that somehow manages to be depressingly bland and characterless at the same time.

FOX just posted a preview for "How I wet your mother" in part of what they're calling "Blockbuster Sunday".

For those wondering, while The Simpsons does "Inception", Family Guy is doing "Friday the 13th" (With Lois' brother the fat guy strangler), American dad is doing "The Hurt locker" (And making it about porta-pottys, calling it "The Squirt Locker", ugh), and The Cleveland Show is doing "Limitless" (With Cleveland becoming a drug addict).

I'll post the other previews in the "Animation Discussion" forum.

That...looks...awful! Not only that, I've just realise Senor Jean has now zombified the old classic that was Homer and his brain.

I won't say anything until I watch it. I Love the idea, I like the Billy Kimball and Ian Maxtone-Graham' episodes, I like inception, it can't be so bad... can it?

at 1:10 it looks like the Simpsons have reverted back to the Tracey Ullman shorts style.

And yeah, it looks like they may be bringing back the "Homer and his brain" trend.... (badly)

I have to admit, that was pretty cool. Let's just see if the writers can make it work.

This better be good. A horrible Simpsons episode parodying that movie would be the worst insult ever.

Actually, i've never seen that movie, but still.

    I've seen Inception so yeah...

    Explosions?: Check.
The deepest level?: Check (Note, it's the city built out of food, similar to the city built out of sand.)
Having to awake yourself out of 5 levels at a time?: Check.
    The machine?: Obviously.
    Snow skiing scene?: Check.

Everything here reminds me of a minute parody of Inception, still; it is somewhat better then South Park even though they're mostly copying the movie with a few Simpsons twist. I feel like the only saving grace will be the scenes where Mona Simpson appears, because that will be the only thing people will be looking for when this episode comes out.

On the bright side, they've actually done good work before which is more than you can say for a lot of veterans on the team.
I take back what I said earlier given the trailer and the fact that this weekend's ep WILL be an Inception-inspired format bender.
This should give The Book Job and Holidays of Future Passed a run for best episode of the season.

But I will preface that with one caveat... I suspect a lot of the jokes will not be received well by people who have not seen the movie. It seems to be a pretty literal Simpsonized parody and if it fails to hold up as its own entity (like their last parody of Da Vinci Code did with Gone Maggie Gone) the episode could run into trouble.

For the first time since December, I'm legitimately excited for a new episode.

You guys literally hate everything they do now. I think it looks awesome...or at least pretty good (and I didn't even like Inception that much, in fact I thought it was cold, full of tiresome expository dialogue and a little pedantic). My only complain is that it looks a little too surreal. A format bender shouldn't be exactly the same as a THOH in terms of introducing surrealistic elements. Still, if going into surreal territory gives them the chance of doing something more creative instead of a totally bland episode then I'm fine with it. I love Homer's dreams in regular episodes so a complete episode based on them can be very entertaining.

And I love they are bringing back the talking brain joke...It was one of those things that defined Homer Simpson much more than the slapstick jokes they've been using recently. They should keep the lines a little shorter though.

Also, we see some of the SNPP in this.
    My Simpsons homage!
