I actually found the second clip mildly amusing.
Favourite/least favourite by seasons that I own (somewhat stolen from Financial Panther):

    3 - Dog of Death/When Flanders Failed 4 - Lisa's First Word/So it's Come to This: A Simpsons Clip Show 5 - Secrets of a Successful Marriage/Bart's Inner Child 6 - And Maggie Makes Three/Another Simpsons Clip Show 7 - Marge Be Not Proud/Bart the Fink 8 - Homer's Phobia/The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase 9 - King of the Hill/Trash of the Titans 10 - Wild Barts Can't Be Broken/Maximum Homerdrive

isn't the seal on quimby's podium the state seal? or do all cities use the state seal for official emblems and stuff?

rather flat staging in the second clip

It does seem like a simpson movie type plot. And I did think this was the very last episode, but they aren't going to end it soon enough.

And the residents will end up realising in the end, they need them after all.

Without the simpsons in springfield, it just would be boring I suppose.

I want Colin in this episode as well. And more characters back in future episodes like Jessica Lovejoy.

That seriously looks like Roger Meyers Jr. behind Moe in the first clip

Did some of you eat the purple berries? I could hear your moaning from three threads over!

Clips really don't show enough to rate the episode one way or another. It was cool to see the whole town gathering, hopefully we see more of the meeting than just that bit.

And since when has The Simpsons Movie been a bad thing? I had thought it was deemed one of the highlights from the franchise's past six years. I guess Simpsons fans hate everything now? By that logic, you're not a fan if all you do is hate.

It'll probably be an Apu episode; promos and press releases tend to spin it in a way that sounds more interesting, and more people know who Bart is than Apu. Or, you know, they could pull a Replaceable You and have both plots take up equal time. So, yeah, I don't know anything - don't bother reading this post.

I actually think the first clip was funnier and more interesting than the second one.

The second one was ok for "Simpsons going into wacky adventure" type.

Looks like The Simpsons Movie combined with E-I-E-I-(Annoyed Grunt) or something. Not bad, but I feel like there will be some potential wasted.
    My Simpsons homage!

The Simpsons movie is horribly overrated. Not to mention this episode is horribly done as a meta joke where it seems the only joke is there isn't a dome that causes the town to kick them out, but instead, Springfield seems like a town full of self-aware comedians kicking out a family of failed comics and the family goes to the badlands which is a shittier version of Alaska.

Really, I sure as heck hope the ending doesn't involve the family foiling a nasty plot, or something probably with Mr. Burns, that redeems them in the town's eyes and then everyone suddenly loves them again.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

just because the Simpsons Movie is a highlight of the past few years doesn't make it good. I personally quite like it but it has some very bad parts and I can see why some wouldn't like it

I still enjoy The Simpsons Movie and from what I remember it was liked well enough when first released, but now it seems almost like a bad thing to still like it, like you didn't take off the magic glasses that kept you from realizing it was average to bad. I disagree with that as I said, but that seems to be the common opinion regarding it now, at least from around here as far as I can tell.

Or maybe they really like this concept and that's why they did it in the movie and they use something similar again in the 500 episode.

I thought The Simpsons Movie was ok, could have been much better, it was a little disjointed and some scenes were better than others. The premise of most of the plots was actually pretty interesting but the development wasn't Simpsons at their best (and I'm including even the occasional excellent episode in the new seasons), it wasn't at it worst either, except for maybe a couple of gags or scenes. The main problem to me was that it seemed a little too much for the masses, I don't want to be elitist nor did I expect an underground /indie kind of movie, but it should have been a little more poignant and include more satire about Hollywood blockbuster conventions instead of embracing them.

This episode looks like it will do some things better than the movie , I thought Grampa joining the mob was a fun joke at first but when it involves townspeople wanting to kill Homer, it would have been nice to see Grampa on his son's side at some moment. Simpsons new life doesn't look more interesting than Alaska, though, it all looks like the same random adventures they're living now every time they go on a trip. I miss the old days when they moving to Cypress Creek or Capitol City looked like a real, important event on OFF life and not a excuse for some random jokes-funny or not- about the new location.

Anyway I'm hoping this will be at least an average/good episode unlike most of the last ones in the current season.

Neither of those clips were funny. Hopefully those are the only two unfunny sequences in the episode.

Two new pictures of the episode Exit Through the Kwik-E-Mart :

Boy, It feels as if we're seeing the Bart/Milhouse combo more and more. I mean, in older seasons these two characters weren't paired up so often.

I doubt they'd release clips of the two worst sequences in the episode... :/

Wait they're actually meant to be the funniest clips of the episode?!? Oh god, this is going to suck even harder than I first anticipated...

Here is a must-read interview with 500th episode writer Michael Price:

    http://www.fruitlesspursuits.com/201...ael-price.html

Lots of upcoming episode info we haven't heard yet, including the first "Itchy & Scratchy"-centric episode in over a decade!!!!!

“The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show” is my all-time favorite episode,
    Good choice Mr. Price

I'm sorta disappointed that the upcoming I&S episode will be about Roger Meyers Jr's life and not the actual animation industry, which is far more interesting to me and has more room for satire/ good self referential jokes, but it's still good news.

  27. #1557

Nah fuck the animation industry, I think the Roger Meyes Jr story sounds interesting, as he was a legendary character, albeit they'll probably screw it up.

Good interview I have to say and he seems like a good guy but:

"And I think over these past ten seasons that I’ve been here we’ve produced many episodes that stand up to the best the show has done."
