Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

How do you keep The Simpsons fresh and funny after 22 long years? Homer becomes paralyzed and can only communicate through farting. Jokes about fox news (and... other jerks). And a secret agent who only Homer can see!

I'm very skeptical that an episode of Homer communicating through farting could be done in a funny manner. For all the cheap humor the show's done, it's been relatively low on fart jokes overall, to the point where it feels weird on the occasion that they pop up.

Between that and the awful-sounding Lady Gaga episode, my skepticism for this season grows more and more. The Grampa episode has potential though.

The communicating through farting thing sounds terrible. Aren't THOH segments supposed to be somewhat scary? I can't imagine what any potential threat in this episode will be. Still, at least it's only a third of an episode long.

Though I'm not sure how good it will really be, the Christmas episode in the future will at least be interesting to watch, to see the new Simpsons grandchildren. Bart is supposed to be a deadbeat dad - should be okay (I hope he isn't as irritating as he was in 'Bart to the Future').

When Halloween specials started parodying non-Halloween genres, I was a bit ticked off.

A understood why a Transformers parody might work... robots overthroing mankind. Yeah, that's a bit scary.

The Mr and Mrs Smith parody... not really Halloween, but I guess you could get some good action sequences. Maybe a funny death or two.

But a halloween episode which parodies The Diving Bell and the Butterfly?! Jesus wept. I guess next year's Halloween special will be a spoof of The Notebook. Fucking hell.

Bart and Maggie, seeing what happened, commit suicide with a knife.

Exactly, when I heard that title of "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" I wondered what that title was. When I checked imdb.com I discovered that it was a FOREIGN ART DRAMA FILM!!!!!!!!!!!! or near enough. That to me is the WORST CHOICE of film genre to spoof in a Halloween episode.

The writers are acting like that kid playing Duck, Duck, Goose that says other words instead and needs to be told "Stick with duck and goose."

The writers should've been told a long time ago for the Halloween episodes "Stick with horror and sci-fi"

I wasn't familiar with the story of 'The Diving Bell and the Butterfly' but apparently it's about a poor guy who becomes paralysed and can only communicate through blinking. This THOH segment is apparently about Homer getting paralysed and 'hilariously' communicating through farting. I dunno, but the parody seems a lil' tasteless. Let's hope it isn't...

After this plot, the sarcastic made up plots posted here regarding the show's decline just don't seem that bad (or far-fetched).

If it is, I guess it. Is going to be something like the movie but with Antarctica.

Although this season 24 information is off-topic I'll post it here anyway. According to this Al Jean interview, he explains at 2:45 that for Halloween 2012, they will be doing a Back to the Future story which will involve Jon Lovitz reprising hs role of Artie Ziff.

Interesting, I forgot which thread it was but in one during the summer I asked if anyone thought one of the holdovers for the hypothetical season 24 would be a ToH and now I know the answer.

Not quite. Treehouse of Horror XXIII will be a PABFxx holdover, but the next production line hasn't yet been contracted for.

Crazy...Earlier today, I was thinking about how Artie Ziff hasn't been on the show in a while. Maybe in this story, we'll get to see the alternate timeline if Marge had married Artie in the warped "Back to the Future part 2" style.

We got news that The Food Wife will air possibly on November 13th.

Here is an article along with a tweeted photo from Matt Selman of the animated Gordon Ramsay watching a crying Marge.

Due to the white background, I have a feeling that the cameo will be a daydreaming sequence similar to the one of Tom Colicchio in the most recent episode.

I'm guessing they're part of the plan, and both Patty and Skinner will have "funny" reasons for doing so.

Any word on who's writing Replaceable You? We already know Selman is linked to The Food Wife.
