Worst poster ever. I think it's absolutely hideous, looks like it didn't even cost 10p.
I don't think I ever anticipated a 500th episode in my life, felt like years between 300 and 400. Is there an actual point in getting to 500 episodes? Or 23 series? Just to say "oh yeah we got to 500 episodes". So what?
That poster look like the cover of the season 20 in DVD but this time is with 500...

i don't think the poster is meant to be some big, extravagent thing, it's just meant to showcase that the 500th episode is coming in a few months

This article gives 19th February 2012 as the date of the 500th episode, which makes sense.

I sure hope that this "landmark" episode will be the 500th aired episode instead of being like the 499th or 501st aired episode. February 19th needs to air the 14th episode of season 23 is what I mean.
Although it is unlikely that FOX and/or the writers will listen, I would also like this episode to not have any guest stars or if there are any, just don't make them the prime selling point of the episode.

Plot synopsis of the 500th Episode:
"Homer teams up with ___________ , guest starring _____________ from the FOX Television show ______________ when he learns he has a secret talent of ______________which causes stress in his and Marge's relationship. Consequently, the plan backfires because (circle one) when Homer: Forgets an important Date / Let's the new 'guest' move in / is fired / hacks into someone's voice mail. To redeem himself, Homer travels to ___________ with (insert 2nd Guest star here) and becomes really successful at _____________, again. Homer learns his lesson, but admits learning is overrated and the family is back to square one. There will be a time-wasting subplot involving Bart and Lisa cataloging the various M&M colors (or something like it) that won't go anywhere, followed by the obligatory "we've made it to 500! Watch out Gunsmoke!" message.
(Also, be on the watch for various Fox personalities nervously reading cue cards congratulating the show on it's 500th episode.)

Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

I really don't see why they had to copy that 500 logo onto the background. La-zy! And what the hell is with Simpsons posters and sillouettes? A sad reminder of the lacking originality of the show? If they really want to make the 500th original, though, they could at least read my sig.

The poster has better animation.
If the show is going to go all out for the 500th episode with no regard or respect with what came before it, just make Homer a goddamn pimp, he can be the biggest jerkass ever, I don't care. Shelbyville needs Moms.If they really want to make the 500th original, though, they could at least read my sig

The 500 ep poster does the job, but it seems lacking in originality. I hope it isn't the same case for the episode, but I would be shocked if it wasn't...

What are the odds the Season 23 premiere will have the chalkboard: "I will not hack the principal's phone"?
High. Then again, it could be "I will not throw shaving foam pies at Rupert Murdoch".
We have a plot description for the episode The Doh-cial Network in which Lisa creates a Social Network site. Armie Hammer will guest star in it as rowing twins Tyler & Cameron Winklevoss.

Thanks for the link biffwestwood! I'm looking forward to this episode but It looks like it's only going to air in beginning of 2012 (too bad they couldn't open the season with this episode). I bet that's going to be hilarious to see Patty and Selma at the olympic games
!
Just to get this absolutely straight before I go up to the roof.
- Lisa starts her own social network, for some reason
- Patty and Selma take part in the Olympics, for some reason
- They are for some reason rowing against two men
Oh I get it, they'll probably do a joke about how they look like men so they get entered in that race, for some reason.

Seriously, did one of the writer's grandkids pester them at a family reunion in Boise to make an episode this uninspired?
Why watch the 'old' episodes for nostalgia when I can watch a new Simpsons episode and be reminded of what was relevant five years ago!
C'mon, Simpsons writers--at least come up with ideas that appear to have taken some effort. I really don't want to see an episode where Bart becomes the next Justin Beiber, guest starring Justin Beiber.
