Homer has 3 hairs in "And Maggie Makes Three".

I felt oddly proud noticing this; then I watched the commentary straight after and they pointed it out twice, making it seem really obvious and diminishing any sense of accomplishment I had before.

I'm looking at the framegrabs on lardlad; he has two for the remainder of the episode, after he finds out Marge is pregnant.

Homer: "Sweet merciful crap! My car!"

    No Homer, it's Marge's car.

Homer probably owns it as Marge has no income

I'm usually too busy laughing at Homer's reaction.

    In Duffless:

I don't think this is that subtle but it looks like there's two of the same barfly (I think his name is either Sam or Larry).

Homer: "Sweet merciful crap! My car!"

    No Homer, it's Marge's car.
That shouldn't be taken so literally though. He could be insured with it or by "my" he meant the family car.

My mom has a really good job, her car is still in my dad's name.

  12. #72

I've never paid attention to which car belongs to whom.

Since this thread is here again, I'll post some small things I've noticed recently.

How do we know Homer's mom is really named Mona? It was never mentioned in the episode - in fact, one of the names on her list of licenses is the same name that's listed in the Simpsons Uncensored Family Album. I can't remember the name off hand, but wouldn't it most likely be that than Mona?

In that same episode, Homer says to Marge, "First of all, it wasn't 25 years, it was 27 years" in regards to how long she's been missing. Later in the episode, the detective says she should look "25 years older" referring to the computer technology. Marge was right after all.

In Treehouse of Horror X, after Marge hits Ned, she says, "Please be a dog". In a sense, she was correct, since Ned was a werewolf when she hit him.

This one is probably more obvious but I don't remember noticing it before personally. In She of Little Faith Kearney is established to be on the church council and is later beaten up by Bart and the bullies. In a later scene with the church council he has a bandage on his head, obviously referring to the earlier beating.

Breaking news! Arnold Schwarzenegger existed in the world of The Simpsons before the movie! Quote from Radioactive Man:

Bart: But Milhouse, they haven't cured anything! Heart disease and world hunger are still rampant. Those do-gooders are all a bunch a pitiful losers... every last one of them. Want results? You have to go to the Schwarzeneggers, the Stallones, and to a lesser extent, the Van Dammes.

This was actually only the second time I watched the episode, but in MoneyBart Mike Scioscia's hat changes from red to white. I failed to notice it before so I went back to when it happened, and it is actually just a second hat he happened to be wearing when the first blows off while on the roller coaster.

I've been having a little THOH marathon and I never seemed to notice 2 things.

    - Smithers giving Burns a piggy-back ride when they run to capture Homer in "King Homer"

    - Maggie seeing and waving to Homer when he's hiding behind the bookshelf in the 3D segment

  18. #78

When Cecil says, in response to Bart saying "guess who?", "Maris" then I now know that he means Maris from Frasier haha and before you say anything, last time I saw that episode I hadn't watched Frasier.

In a similar vein, it took me several viewings of "Treehouse of Horror IV" before I noticed Maggie waving bye-bye to vampire Bart after he turns into a bat and flies out the window.

Yeah, I noticed that this time around. I've definitely noticed it before, but like you said, it took several viewings.

Never noticed that Treehouse of Horror VI wave, and I've watched that segment like, 100 times.

Her name wasn't stated in 'Mother Simpson', no, but it was in 'My Mother the Carjacker'. Grampa says it when they believe she's died:

Grampa: Mona, I'll always remember raspberry trolley cars, because my mind is shot.
It may even be mentioned at other points in that episode, I haven't seen it in a while but that's the line I immediately remembered that mentioned her name. Obviously, the episode 'Mona Leaves-a' confirms it further.

EDIT: Oh, according to the SNPP capsule, one of her drivers licences in 'Mother Simpson' actually does have the name 'Mona Simpson', so I guess they just decided that's her real name.

You know, that's interesting because I was watching Bart the General the other day. From the dialogue, I found out there's a character called "Bart!" Strange I never noticed.

In "Miracle On Evergreen Terrace",the townspeople donate a pile of cash to The Simpsons. The Sea Captain donates a live fish.Later,The Simpsons buy a sportscar with the cash, and, inevitably, manage to blow it up.As the wreckage of the car rains down around the family, the fish hits Homer on the head.

That's the first name Lisa says when they say all of them.

Jimbo spray-paints "CARPE DIEM" on a wall in "Homer the Vigilante".

I'm 75% sure about this; might have been my ears playing tricks on me. In Bart the Mother, when Bart is contemplating whether or not to shoot the bird, he hums the dramatic instrumental music.
