get it? Al's working at a bowling alley, Fred Flinstone liked to bowl![]()
I dunno, that seems like a pretty big stretch to me...![]()
Orange shirt, dark blotches, blue collar, works at a bowling alley
Orange shirt, dark blotches, blue collar, avid bowler
Seems like an inside reference to me, but whatever.
The tire pile has been in Springfield since the beginning. Just noticed it in the old intros. Had the impression they invented it just to set it on fire in later seasons lol.
Another: Abe Simpson is far shorter than Homer in the earlier episodes. Bart Vs Thanksgiving particularly.

On the millionth watch, I noticed Homer's eyes were small dots.

WHAT EPISODE!?
Anyone notice the low-volume, bird-song soundtrack that plays in the background to practically every Simpsons episode in every series?
Yes, they made a joke about that in the Season 13 episode, "Blame it on Lisa", wherein Marge, Lisa and Bart are in the transport carriage and Marge decides they need a fitting tune to accomodate the atmosphere.
So it's a little thing that was pointed out in an episode, which I think is kind of funny. It's a good joke![]()
"So, I'm closing up the bar right, and some punk executive producer comes in and tries to stick me up."
"Whatever did you do Moe?"
Well, it coulda been a really ugly situation, but I managed to shoot him in the spine. Ha ha! The next studio he produces at better have a ramp!" - Moe on Al Jean
On the millionth watch, after watching Homer vs Lisa and the 8th Commandment, I realised that Ned's pupils were blinking in the scene where he complains about the free cable

Surly, can't you do something.
Ey, Surly only looks out for one guy, Surly.
Hm, sorry Surly.
Shut up!
(never noticed the "shut up" until recently for some reason.)
In the Hurrican Neddy episode, when Ned is freed from the hospital there is a panning shot of all the signs the protesters are holding. Most say "Free Ned" but the last sign for a split second says "Free John Swartzwelder" who is a simpsons writer. Also any episode where an angry mob is yelling lots of things like "The PTA disbands" some of the stuff the mob says is hilarious. Such as when skinner makes the money sign with his fingers and some guy yells "The hand thing means taxes!"

Holy shit. Look whose name appears when Snake shoots. This was his last recorded episode before his death as well.
^
oh wow, this actually made my jaw drop.

3. Wild Barts Can't Be Broken
4. The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson
5. Last Exit to Springfield
6. Marge vs. the Monorail
7. Homie the Clown
Don't know how I missed it before, but just watched "The Springfield Connection" and noticed that just after Hans Moleman is lead off to be executed by electric chair(in a local jail!),the power in the Simpson house dips for a couple of seconds.
I noticed on the millionth watch of "Bart After Dark" that slashing is imminent.

...Yes. :-(
the snpp executive vice president at frank grimes' funeral
That there are a lot of callbacks in Dog of Death
Michael Jackson Express Way - Stark Raving Dad
Flanders wearing Assasins - Bart's Dog Gets an F
Principal Skinner Missing Posters - Bart the Murderer
I'm sure there's more but those are a couple I picked up on.
THOH II - There a lot of lines added post production, IE people talking completely out of sync, people talking without their mouths moving etc.
The reference to the painting "Nighthawks" in the episode "Homer Vs. The Eighteenth Amendment." It looks like that art history class may have come in handy after all.

It is an over 35 basketball league in the one, Moleman is 31 in the other. Of course it begs the question why you didn't notice Moleman in the Retirement Castle at least 3 seasons earlier...
there is a sign in the one image that says '35 and Over Basketball League.'
EDIT: didn't see raspberry's post above.
