I'm surprised nobody has made a thread about this yet, it looks pretty good from the trailers I've seen. Seems different than all the other CG animated movies out nowadays. So has anybody seen it yet?

Tapped Out Origin ID: jbartle25, feel free to add me
I saw it
It was good...really weird and definitely not for kids. I'd recommend it.
I read this in USA Today: there are people complaining about this film because the characters were SMOKING CIGARETTES!!!
what about how many characters die on screen
now I just gotta convince my girlfriend to go see this with me, not gonna be easy
tell her that you'll give her the business afterwards
I'm sure dirty Mexican lizards will really moisten her up
Some friends took me to see this last weekend. I kind of forgot it had existed, but I was pretty surprised. It was a lot of fun. The plot's pretty damn cliche "nobody main character goes to a troubled town, pretends he's somebody until he proves himself" structure, it doesn't take very many risks in the story department but for what it had it did some great stuff. There were some pretty creative uses of the characters' animal attributes, so they're not just people that look like animals but actually animals...that...act like people, if that makes any sense. Some of the scenery was really cool and overall the animation was pretty stunning. Very high end quality in it.
And it did have a good bit of raunchy humor, and yes...one...maybe two characters smoke but come on...it is not stuff I would constitute as something you have to desperately shield children from in order to turn them into pathos filled pussies. It's supposed to be the old west so it should be a bit dangerous like that. And I don't think the more metaphysical aspects of the movie are all that hard to grasp either. God, kids are so underestimated. Well in general I thought it was a fun movie, and the fact it didn't try to be a big brother PR executive to patronize kids and bore adults was a plus to me. A fair number of pre teens and kids were in this theater along with adults and they all seemed to enjoy it all the same.
Besides, some parents would complain about a rock looking at their kid funny.
Haven't gotten the chance to see the film, but I do agree that it appears to be one geared more to older audiences.
Just because they are animals doesn't mean they have to be cute and everything, and as far as smoking is concerned, it's not like that they are advertising smoking. If anything, it is setting up (among other factors) the town of Dirt as the solumn Old West town that it is.
I do have one question: what's the name of the rattlesnake villain with a gatling gun for a rattler? 'Cause I was wanting to draw that character.
if there's one thing the animals in this movie are not, it's cute
uhh was it Rattlesnake Jake or something? or did i just make that up.
Rattlesnake Jake
His design was one of the best things about the movie.
I thought this movie was all kinds of incredible
super fun to look at, hilarious characters, zippy dialogue... everything owned
cartoon movie of the year
Not Clint Eastwood is the best cgi person i've ever seen. it's like a drew friedman caricature come to life
yeah Jamie that part was really great
You know I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this movie visually at least...was a little better looking than modern Pixar films in my opinion.
Even if as I said the story was cliche (but very fun), it's really rare for the quality of 3D animation to wow me even a little now but this did a little. I think it's worth a view at least for just how pretty it looks.
Saw this yesterday. Really great. Beautiful animation, fantastic story, and all those homages to westerns are like the ultimate finishing touch
Somehow convinced her to go and we had fun. It was a bit....goofier than I was expecting for some reason but I did like all the nods to old westerns and the guy who did the voice of the guy really sounded like the guy he was trying to impersonate.....trying not to spoil it.
also, what the hell kind of animal was this thing on the right supposed to be? A bird with his beak as his nose and a mustache under it but above his mouth?

honestly did not know beans was supposed to be a lizard until I looked it up on wikipedia just now
Saw this one for the first time back in July when it was released on DVD/Blu-Ray and then for a second time a couple of days ago (got the DVD around Christmas) and I must say that I like it a lot, it's a really fun and entertaining movie; the animation is great, the music is solid and the character designs are really good too (it is also nice to see an animated film that looks a bit gritty compared to most other animated movies released nowadays). Overall, I'd say it is definitely one of the most overlooked flicks of the year.
Haven't seen the movie, but I have to agree that the design is spectacular.
The only reason I couldn't enjoy it more is because it's basically every "new guy in town" western ever made...with talking animals.
Eh. Even the Pixar movies have some sort of generic story planted in them. I just learn to enjoy the characters and the plot and have fun; even though the plot is generic. It's how you feel about everything around you that determines whether or not a movie is good or not.

Saw this when it came out on Blu Ray and I have to say this is the best designed computer animated movie yet. It's also ILM's first fully cgi movie.
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.
The fact that the story itself is nothing really new does not bother me at all nor does it lower my enjoyment of the movie.
Another thing that bothers me a little is that Rango repeats something said by another character like at least 15 times in the course of the movie.
I've seen it and I likes it a lot
A little weird in the beginning but great, escpecially those mexican singing birds![]()
Hey, I remember that game from an Underground PS1 demo disc. That was when I first played Spyro 2 as well.
Memories...
