I agree with Muskrat. Bob's Burgers was the highlight of Animation Domination tonight for me, followed by American Dad. The pacing is refreshing to the world of animated sitcoms; so far the thing for Bob's is (probably unintentionally) an episode takes place over a few days maximum and therefore it can relax a little more. The older girl (forget her name) was fleshed out more this week, also a highlight.
I do have to admit, the one thought that came in my head was I hope Coach McGuirk on Home Movies doesn't become less funny to me now that I am seeing a similar character given so much airtime on a new show. I know they aren't the same obviously, but the voice and the sarcasm may become more common and expected over time.
What a glorious day for Canada and therefore, of course, the world.
I thought it was much better than the pilot. Everyone felt more realized, the characters were more entertaining, and it was much funnier. Hopefully the show can keep going from here, I do think it'll be worth it.

dear god we practically got home movies back. this is the sit down shut up of 2011, except it's actually lives up to its fullest potential and hype. loved the story, the horror movie spoofs, and kristin schaal is surprisingly the best voice actor on a show with jon benjamin.
btw: brendon small supposed to make a cameo later in the season.

I enjoyed this episode more than last week's. Hope the show sticks around.

I really enjoyed this episode. I hope fox does not cancel it soon, I would like to see it given time to develop.
I thought the first episode was pretty horrible, felt like an Adult Swim show but I wasn't stoned at 2 in the morning to make it seem funny. I was glad to see that the second episode was a huge improvement, if they can keep the quality up to that level I'll be checking it out every week. "I'm funny in the wall." had me cracking up for some reason.
I thought this was great. Like I said, the pilot is supposed to be like the "establishment" episode so it's usually gonna feel awkward, but past that now it's all about table-read driven comedy, and I'm gonna enjoy it as long as I can. I wonder if they use a lot of improvisation like they did in Home Movies.
They're trying to bring an outside protein in!
I am laughing through 20 minutes, this is something a Fox animation hasn't got me to do since the final half of Sit Down, Shut Up. Brilliant show, brilliant brilliant show.
aaaaaaaaaand it crashed in the ratings like I feared. even disregarding the fact that the block was down as a whole, bob was the obvious weak link in the bunch as fox's ratings plunged then skyrocket in and out of the eight o'clock hour. of course a drop was expected and if it settles here it might have a chance and other channels had the golden globes and NFL but still... dunno guys.
I guess the best we can hope for is if the executives like it, which what renewed family guy for a third season.
I'm a bit sad that I didn't watch the premiere because I saw the second episode and thoroughly enjoyed it (loved the characters and the Shining scenes) It seems to be the smartest thing on Animation Domination at the moment and I'm crossing my fingers that it stays. It's also nice to see a new series that does't have Seth's name on it for a change
thought it was pretty great except for everything with the school counselor guy, which was pretty well-worn territory for the whole animated family sitcom genre. I'm slowly getting used to the wife's voice
Yeah the counselor thing was average, but it did give Grandma a pretty awesome moment at the end
This second episode was significantly better, though still a little rough. Its biggest problem so far is falling into beaten-to-death cliches of other sitcoms. The grandparents, the counselor, etc. Though this show seems to have some bizarre stuff up its' sleeve, so maybe they are trying to gain a following with standard stuff before taking off.
Several moments of this episode were hilarious, and its so refreshing to have a show with pacing and humor like this. I really hope this catches on, but its not looking good...
I'm slowly warming up to the show now, really enjoying Louise/Kristen Schaal combo and there was more laughs this time.
I really hope word of mouth saves it from the axe, but sadly I doubt it.
People on the Fox community forum thing for this show have been slagging this off pretty loudly and frequently. I really really hope that Fox ignore the haterz and allow it to build up it's fanbase.
I thought it was alright, but I'm still not really feeling it. There were some pretty ridiculously cliche elements in the first half (father dreading his loud, Jewish mother-in-law visiting, old people having sex and others hearing it), but once Bob got "stuck" in the wall it picked up a little. I liked the youngest kid tricking her friends into thinking the dad was dead, and Gene is growing on me. The sampler keyboard sound is the kind of annoying thing I still like messing around with.
The zombies-making-out scene was all kinds of revolting.
I thought it was pretty terrible. Not any improvement over last week.
The last 20% had a few funny moments, but not enough to save it.
Why does the daughter have bunny ears? It's distracting..
More fart jokes..
Eh.. Doubt I'll catch it next week.
"Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the object worship of the state. It will prescribe for every one where they are to work, what they are to work at, where they may go and what they may say. Socialism is an attack on the right to breathe freely. No socialist system can be established without a political police. They would have to fall back on some form of Gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance."
First episode sucked.
Next episode was fucking hilarious. I don't know. I just really bought into it the second time. I wish the little boy had a point of existing though. He doesn't even have funny lines. Bunny ear girl is fucking primo shit though. Trolltacular.
Anyway, I thought this was a bit better than last week's but I like last week's too. The only problems I had were the cliche plots and the cheesy family speech towards the end. Get some more original plots, and the show will be way better (the pacing's well done, some great jokes esp. salman rushdie, and characters that have a lot of potential).
just finished watching both episodes, first was ok, second was straight-out hilarious - the nightlight stuff was my favourite. My biggest problem with the show is that Bob is the only character I like, the others are just annoying and jokes sprung off them fall flat. and the mother's voice is unflattering. Apart from that I really enjoyed it, I don't understand the hate it's getting and I hope FOX doesn't cancel it.
